Wish me luck. I am in A-Fib and they are going to cardiovert me Friday. I had it done once about 5 years ago and the first shock stopped my heart, but it took 3 more ZAPS to get it going again! Just a little nervous here...

AFG, good luck! I will definitely be thinking about you! My wife used to have repeated problems with that. Then about 10 years ago she had a procedure called an ablation. She hasn't had problems since.

Let us know how you do, you're in our prayers.

She had ablation 10 years ago? I though that was a relivley new procedure. It that the one where they go in and "kill" off sections of the heart around where the electrical "fireings" are not in sync?

Good Luck, I've been that way for about ten years, running the right speed, just not in 4/4 time. Been through the ZAP three times and decided to live with it.

Jump Start My Heart
There's a Clarence Clemons tune by that name on one of the Red Bank Rockers albums. You may want it cranked to earbleed levels in the O/R to back up the procedure.

My Mom's had her heart retimed by that procedure a number of times, so far, so good.

Good thoughts your way.

AFG, yep that's the procedure, for her it was an alternative to a pacemaker. When my wife had her ablation it was a very new procedure, it has since become very common.

My wife made frequent trips to the emergency room and had the heart stopping thing done a few times, finally a doctor told us about a new procedure called ablation.

We found a great doctor who was doing them. It will be 10 years this September 8th, she had it done on her birthday. She told the doctor it was the best birthday present ever. It made a huge difference in her life.

Good luck Ron,

I had the procedure done four times back in '99 on four bad spots in my left ventricle. First one was a little scary, after that, no worries. Now I'm doing fine and no problems since. You won't regret getting it done. Just watch out for the stress monster from here out !!

OFC - where not only the guitars but the players need batteries.

Maybe some of us need to transfer to the Ovation Pharma board.

"If he doesn't know by now, then maybe we shouldn't do this..." Ah, a great all-purpose comedy quote.

Sounds... erm... "entertaining" AFG - gigging tonight, so I'll be sure that we do a song just for you. Something rocking, that's for sure.

Good luck AFG!

My mother is in Afib due to Mitral Prolapse. Different cause than the recurrent pathway you have. She cannot tolerate the Afib like Bill because not only does her heart not pump forward very well due the the fib, it leaks backward. When she is in fib, she can walk, but barely. Stairs are way out. She has been shocked about 6-7 times. She is getting a new heart valve this month.

The ablation procedure has been around for quite a while. A good friend Cardiologist of mine in San Antonio has been doing them and having great success.

Again, Go with God, our prayers are with you.
