But before I go on I want it clear that I am not trying to rush Al or the Mothership on this. It will happen when it happens and it will be what it is. Perhaps this will help gauge the current interest in the project.
This time, instead of just listing specification, lets say why we think a certain feature would be nice.
I'll go first.
In no particular order of importance....
1)Slothead...because nothing else says "OFC" like a slothead. Whatever the benefits and drawbacks, it is an OFC icon.
2)Textured Top... because there are a certain 34 or so model guitars out there with them. Heck..the majority of us (myself included) never played a textured top guitar. But the people in the know seem to think it is important so I'll go with that.
3)Contour Bowl... Now I sing the praises of the old deep bowl Ovation as much as anybody. But the engineers at Ovation thought enough of this design to make a change. I don't think they made the change for no reason. In the true Ovation spirit of inovation combined with tradition, I say we go with the new bowl.
4)LX neck features...Mostly for the same reasons listed above. The changes were made for a reason.
5)12-frets to the body...Again, another feature that just screams OFC.
6)Cut-a-way body...This feature might not scream OFC. But it will make a few notes easier to reach both for those that use them and for those who hope to someday get there.
7)Abalone...not in excess, but subtle. I don't think the neck needs to be bound in abalone. Just the right about of bling will be good.
8)Oiled neck...This is almost a toss-up. I did not think I would like an oiled neck but since I got my AD-II I have grown to like it.
9)OP-Studio (VIP) pre-amp....A must. It's the latest thing.
10)Standard width neck....I think it would be easier on the pickers than it would be on the barr cord player to to with the standard neck.
Well there ya go.
Let's beat this horse one more time. |

OFC guitar should be the following:
1. Slotted headstock - the new "trim" design like the U681. Faced in Koa.
2. 5 piece neck finished in gloss
3. 1-3/4 wide nut
4. 12 frets to the body
5. Cutaway
6. Contour bowl
7. OP Studio
8. Koa top trimmed in tortoise shell
9. Single blow hole on upper bout trimmed in tortoise
I would buy one TODAY.

The mothership came back with a flat no way. The reason; the whole principle of the #47 re-issue was to recreate the original EXACTLY...All I wanted was to do was be able plum it through an amp sometime...Still being told June/July for delivery.
I guess by that time, Al may have something firmer on the OFC...Guess I'll have to keep saving to buy a blue OFC slothead too, just for the a/e option ;)
KOA  far out Dave :D |

Will the words "Nures!! Oxycontin 40 mg or Morphine Sulfate 30 mg STAT for the idiot that sells guitars for a living" help calm you down? |

I'm keen to know the price/delivery on the OFC guitar.
I thought the final spec was decided on ages ago ?
Hey Tim, I'm sure your a little disappointed that they wouldn't come to the party as far as the pickup goes but you've got to admire them sticking to their original intention of offering an exact replica of #47. |

Who knows...maybe it will not be the type I want to buy...maybe I will not be able to afford it. But it could be the one!
We must all be patient and wait for it to happen. In the meantime this is just some wreckless speculation to pass the time. |

If you read carefully you'll find in #8, he states Koa. Yet more evidence he spends waaaaay too much time fondling ukuleles.... |

I was just there, and just finished reading the "bashing" with regards to the Adamas that was won by fugot at e-bay for over 10k. I can't seem to create a link for it, but you can read it in the "General Musical Topics" section of the forum. |

Now tell me truthfully about your experience with #47.
Are you smiling because it's GREAT or is the tour almost over  |

I doubt that any of the detractors posting on that thread have actually played an Adamas let alone a slothead.
Each to there own.
I like Martins, but I've also played my fair share of stinkers. |

My life is very busy right now with many things. I assure you that once rick hall hears back from frank U that I will have some information on the OFC.
but to be honest I have other more important pressing things to attend to now so don't get mad if I can't get you the answers you need right away |

Just take care of whats on your plate while we prattle on. |

No complaints from me, you were quick to answer all my emails and I'm thankful (ps, money order will be in the mail by the end of the week)
Brad,
while we prattle on I get visions of Animal House when everyone is one their backs doing the dead cockroach...
ROTFLMAO :D

Location: Hicksville, NY | I definitely agree with moody and richardd. While I will agree that we often have/had our fair share of bashing the "lower-caste" Celebrity and Applause models in this forum, but I still have yet to see an OFCer bash the character of the person who owns them. Unfortunately, I've had to experience that at the "other" forum, given the Ms that I owned, prior to my HD-28.
I happen to like both Ovations and Martins. In my experience with Martins, I've played some that sounds heavenly, and I also had my fair share that sounded like krap (and I'm saying that with a "k"). In search of my HD-28, I traveled to seven different shops until I found the one that bonded with me.
As for my one and only Ovation, I went to only one shop and was immediately happy with it that I brought her home on the same day. I like the consistency of sound that they deliver -- guitar after guitar. If money, home space and alibis with the wife is not an object, I'd definitely acquire more Os!
I just read Samova's post in the forum with his Adamas and Martins ... way to go! :) |

Location: N.J. | That posting over at the other forum REALLY annoys me  ! Many people who complain about this guitar and that guitar not sounding a certain way or not worth a certain dollar amount is pure bull$hit! Not enough bottom end in your chords? Try moving your picking hand toward the center of the guitar. Not loud enough for ya? Strum the damn thing harder! Bottom line is to the audience, no matter which guitar is being played, its the musician that gets the applause, NOT the guitar. For someone on that board to imply that money was wasted on an early slothead was just plain ignorant.Thank god not all M@%t!n people are that way. {rant over)...... |

Thanks, Al, for clearing that up. And simultaneously ruining my day.
