| Mark - that'll get him to somewhere in southern Kentucky, about 200 miles short. Slipkid's distance would actually be just about the same as Karen/CrimsonLake/Cliff coming from Joisey. |

I suspect it takes much longer to drive from Joisey to War Eagle's place than it takes me to drive to Portland. That's about 7 hours for me and in our younger days we'd leave after work Friday night and come back Sunday afternoon. Gas was lots cheaper then, too. |

Hopefully Keith (War Eagle) doesn't mind me posting a quote from him on this topic:
I was hoping to cook steaks on Saturday evening for everyone. I will go ahead and buy everything and maybe everyone can chip in. Drinks, snacks etc should be brought by everyone individually...
So I'm planning on a 'fisherman's diet' for the duration other than the Saturday PM cook-out. If there's a cafe or such in the area, I may supplement my diet with a hot meal or two. My main concern is COFFEE! I'll buy the coffee if someone will have the means to brew it.
Just as an after thought, I am bringing my own TP...

Closest restaurants are the truck stops off of 40.....The bathroom is definately rustic but it will function as long as we let it breathe between takes!! Nobody will go hungry and definately not thirsty...Peace Man...It's all about the love! The first annual "O" Stock... |

W.E.S.B. has the song pages we generally use at the Southern Style jams (look toward the bottom of the page). If you don't have the Southern Style tabs and the G8rBowl tabs, you'll spend a little time wondering why everybody but you has the same music to play.
Pick through the Otto songs too. I was enjoying Blue Bayou. |

Thanks for hosting this, Keith! It's gonna be GREAT! We knocked down the outhouse and filled in the hole last summer. SWMBO insists on indoor plumbing. I'm going to enlarge the deck next year so we have room enough to jam. I'm still struggling with her idea of a fire pit next to the propane tank, but we'll see what we can figure out. |

My PA has 8 channels and I have mics (4 or 5) and probably as many stands...and yes a few can plug in but not everybody at once...it would limit the number playing at the same time...seems like a lot of unnecessary stuff if it won't work for everyone...I'll do whatever the majority wants, but...
Why don't we just go Acoustic? No amps/No PA?
We don't have a PA set up in the hotel lobby for the tour...and it sounds great, and everyone that wants to participate can do so! |

Seriously, if ya have a two prong power cord on your equipment, all is well. If you have a three prong, I can check out the power grounding prior to ya'll pluggin' in with a 3-2 adapter.
BTW, I won't be bringing my gen set; not enough truck room and the 'cane season isn't over until December! |

Plugging-in 6 or 8 guitars (that'll - for the most part - all be playing the SAME thing) will just create a "wash" that's gonna' drown everything else out . . . |

How many are showing up? So far we have 19 males and 11 females. I just sent Keith the update including CL's additions.
If anyone would like a Word .doc copy of the spread sheet, email me 2ifbyC@tampabay.rr.com. |

True, but, it's the other "concerns" I have.
Most of us have been there. I'll get on my feet again and then nothing will hold me back from attending! Enjoy!!!!! |

I don't mean gear - I mean stuff like a large coffee pot (which I can bring).
Just wondering... |

I'm just tallying the total number of attendees for Keith. TJ, Gway and I are packing light with plans to supplement our 'grubs' locally upon arrival. I do plan on bringing a case of MREs, some coffee, TP and my pillow in case the rest of ya'll beat us to the 'Trading Post'...
As to facilities and amenities? Keith can hopefully answer your questions. Keep in mind that he did say 'rustic'.
I was assured that there are enough coffee pots to sate my AM caffeine demands. There's even a rumor that there might be some 'Thunder Road sedatives' for the PM...
Just an aside: I can hardly wait until 'Christmas Morns in October'... |

A question I was asked, "Do you know if a motorhome can make it down that road. I need 13’6” (clearance)."
First of all, I believe that road goes up on the way in. ;)
Second, could someone answer the question? Keith? |

So far we have 20 males and 11 females. I didn't track a breakout on categories.
Email me, 2ifbyC@tampabay.rr.com, and I'll send a Word doc copy of the complete spreadsheet. I'd post it here but the format isn't compatible.
But here is a list of OFC attendees that have responded:

After going back through the emails here's the best I could come up with:
5-7 young 'O's
5-6 'O' brides
plus several members unsure if they can make it
With C_L and Richard, we're up to 22 males (including the young 'O' males).
Sorry, that's the best info I have for now. |

Location: Budd Lake, NJ | The "Steely-Eyed Northern Girls" need some help (and not just because we're northern):
1. Cheryl and I were checking the maps on-line last night, and they sent us all different ways, most of which looked very aroundabout. We're coming down 81--how do we get from there to the directions beginning with "Head west on I-40 W"?
2. Also, up here we've been hearing about the gas shortages down South; how is it in your area, Keith? As much as we like the idea of visiting, we don't want to get there and get stuck! ;)
3. We're planning on stopping about halfway home and finishing on Monday; can anyone who's made the trip up and down recommend anything on or just off 81 in lower VA?
Thank you all for contributing to our safe arrival,

Pick up I-26 in western VA and follow to I-40 West. Gas is available in eastern TN and prices are dropping to around $3.25 for regular. Keith will have to chime in on western NC.
There are nice places to stay (Holiday Inn Express) in Woodstock, VA at exit 283 off I-81. Also, there is a Quality Inn at exit 264 in New Market,VA that should be comfortable, I used to live in Woodstock and work in New Market about 8 years ago. These suggestions will put you about 5 1/2 - 6 hrs up the road. I hope this helps.

We're driving down on thursday night and staying at a hotel a little over half way there. On Friday we're going to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville (the price I have to pay for the wife coming), which seems to be about an hour away from the compound. I can get you that hotel information too... Brad's hotel suggestions are good.

Aye, Jim! Went over the side there for a bit but back on board now. Sorry about going AWOL but... Seas have been a bit rough here over the last month. Think we're starting to sail out of it now though, and can finally turn our energies toward more pleasant endeavors. :D :D
Dug out my trusty Duluth pack Sunday and looks like all my camping gear is just as I left it. Set up the tent in the living room - looks good, no bent poles, no major holes. My son, (8) thought this was great. Camping in the living room where he could play video games from inside the tent. :)
Spent last night and tonight restringing guitars. More time playing than restringing actually. Hard to set down a guitar with brand new strings, y'know? :D If all goes well, I plan on cruising into Begginburg Friday night I'm guessing in the 10:00 neighborhood.
I am SO looking forward to this weekend!   |

I guess just I'll have to keep warm by applauding all the talent showing up. Oh BTW, is anyone bringing any Taylors and Martins for building the campfire? :D

Seriously! Bring the good stuff if you want...if it's Adamas/Ovation, it will take anything we'll encounter...I'm bringing the ones I'll play plus...It's not freezing and it's not 100 degrees; not supposed to rain but perhaps showers tomorrow: golf clubs are staying home... |

We just had our fifth G-baby (all under 3 1/2 y.o.) and first G-daughter late this AM! Dakota Joy VanEerdeen was 6 lb. 8 oz., 20 inches long and beautiful. She 'told' me that she arrived a bit early so that I wouldn't hold up TJ and Gway in moseying up 'yonder'... ;)
Catch ya'll later. Gotta go finish packing my Arctic gear... :D |

Location: Simpsonville, SC | Well, day "1" has finally arrived for the SSJIII.
Richard is somewhere in the air, on a 20 hour flight to Hotlanta, from downunder....
Trader Jim, Gway and 2iffy are probably somewhere around the Hotlanta area area too....slap Johnny on the head to keep him awake....
The wild northern gals should be heading this way, as should the Crimson gang...
g8r will be heading out soon....
Music is probably still trying to figure out how to get his family and heard of guitars and equipment into one vehicle....
Blues, Capo Guy, and Otto are making their final plans...
The Tim in Tidewater family are natural born travelers, so I know that they are prepared...hope that the auto situation is taken care of.
I am guessing that Beal and Raine are in the foothills of NC somewhere. Don't know if DeBanjo is with them yet....BTW: for those of you that haven't heard Beal and Debanjo Jam, you are in for a real treat.
Keith is running around like a chicken with his head cut off...Trust me Keith, it's worth the effort. Thanks again for putting on this event!!
TRboy and Mar will be heading to the hills soon, searching out other banjo players.
Cliff???? 'nuf said.
Safe travels to all...we'll be arriving tomorrow morn...can't wait! :D  |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Just got back home: our 21 month old son had some problems and we felt it best to come back home early: BTW, it was 36 degrees this AM at 6:50...daytime high today was 45 with it forecast to go to the high 20's tonight: I like camping as much as anyone but right now it's 31 degrees at 10:55 pm. That's downright cold...BUT:
We had a blast and it was still going strong when we left at 5 pm. Beal had just showed up and the jam took off again...no Debanjo however...I have never seen so many guitars at one place: the number even beat the number at Amelia...I dropped off the UK-II to Crimson Lake and adopted a georgeous 1271 mid-70's All curley Maple Viper from Jewels Mom (thanks Karen!)...I'll post some pic's tomorrow when I am a bit more rested. I cannot thank Keith (war eagle) enough (and his family) for the use of the cabin and grounds...we had a blast and it's still happening!
This is the best group of folks ever! So good to see everyone again and the look on Richard's face playing his new '08 Collector was priceless!
I can't wait to do it again! |

And the music never stopped inside the cabin the whole time I was there which was about 4 hours. Debanjo never got off work till 6:00 at Ghost Town in the Sky and couldn't make it.
As always it's good to see so many Ovations in one spot, and especially so many Adamii. Makes me proud. Almost makes me want to be in the music business again. But the gig I got now is pretty had to beat.
Thanks again to Keith and family for putting this on. We'll be there again next year if that's in the cards, and earlier too, get a full day of guitar playing in! |

Just got back, and boy what a great time! I was honored to be among such a fine collection of musicians, & I hope they didn't get too insulted at my attempts at hacking on the guitar.
First off, HUGE thanks to Kieth for hosting this - sir, you are a true Southern gentleman and your hospitality is outstanding. And, you're a damn fine guitarist and singer. The food was outstanding, the company was great, and the drink, well what can I say? ;) And your dad is a hoot (Go Auburn!). I really enjoyed talking to him and listening to him playing and singing. I see where you get your talent.
Beggin & you're lovely wife and daughter, many many thanks again for the place to crash Friday night & special thanks for your friendship.
Richard, it was wonderful to meet you & have the chance to jam into the wee hours of Saturday morning and even more at Keith's. Enjoy that 08C, it's beauty.
TR, Jas, Music, Blues, TJ, Gway, CL & Nick, it was great seeing you guys again. Y'all are like family. Speaking of family, Music & CL you're both blessed with such beautiful families.
Capo Guy & Iffy - what a great time. Good to finally meet you.
A special shout to the Jersey girls. Great voices, wonderful guitar skills, especially your original tunes, and it was a lot of fun jamming blues with you.
Beal, great to see you again, I'll make it up to the Mermaid soon for songwriter's night.
One unfortunate thing to report - Iffy slipped in the middle of the night going to his car and dislocated and broke his ankle. TR & Richard rushed him to the hospital where they set it and put it in a cast, but it will probably need surgery. Everyone please send your prayers and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Many, many thanks to Keith and his family for an amazing event that will be hard to top. From great food to a fantastic location, unending hospitality, and a desire to make sure that everyone had all that they needed, they went WAY beyond what could have been imagined. Keith's family and friends are incredible, funny, and have enough musical talent to make the rest of us extremely jealous. (Can't hide the 'ol man anymore Keith, now I know where you got it from.)
I will post more later, but I am currently very sleep deprived.
Great to see everyone..y'all shoulda been there! |

What was great is that even though we've had six southern jams now, I met many new great people at this one, and more family members. That's always worth the trip.
Thanks for the lodging, Jim and Keith, and the fun & food.
Safe travel wishes go out to Jim, Gary and Iffy, who still have a ways to go before they get home. Take care of our injured pal.

I also want to apologise to all for the hasty exit w/o a lot of goodbyes...and for all the concerns from so many for baby Music (who seems to have come through this none the worse for wear)...you are all family and I an so happy to know you all...we'll do it again soon! Location: Marlton, NJ | Mike - it was a pleasure! The kids were extremely well behaved. Katie had a lot of fun - and it kept her occupied as well... she's not so into this "guitar" thing. To answer your question - it got COLD! Below freezing cold... ice on the tent cold... Amy beating me up for making her camp outside COLD! It didn't seem to bother Beggin or Serge though (or Amy for that matter). They had quite the snore fest (it wasn't ME!).
Thanks to Keith and his extended family for the whole weekend - everything was excellent! They worked their butts off to keep the throng warm and fed.
I'll try to keep this brief (too late?). It was GREAT seeing everyone that I've met before again - all you southern boys and girls and the Jersey girl. I did miss those that couldn't make it - Tim and family and Serge's family. It was great finally meeting Bill - and hearing a few of his originals - very funny! Cheryl was this years Otto - great voice! Chris - I loved your songs as well - good luck with the recording/producing/getting out a CD! Richard - thanks for the TimTams! Now I know what all the hubbub is about. I loved the "political" tune that you sang (sorry Al!). It was hilarious even if I didn't get all of the references. Karen - sorry we missed the Sunday morning activities - it was a long night and everyone wanted to hit the road.
Johnny - I hope you made it home OK and everything turns out well with your ankle. It was an unfair ending to a great weekend. I'm glad to have finally met you. Thanks for all you did to make this weekend happen. |

I never met so many lovely and loving 'strangers' that welcomed me as family. I've heard that heaven is much like that.
Music was EVERYWHERE; in the kitchen, living room, around the the camp fire, the amped 'Arctic Express' front porch and even a tailgate or two.
When you combine the OFC personalities and their music with the glorious multi-hued mountain setting you have the recipe for some wonderful lifetime memories!
I have many fond 'thank yous' that I'll have to address later. Gotta take a nap before my orthopedic surgeon appointment.
But I can't sign off without huge hugs for Keith's generosity and TJ's cherished companionship! |

Location: Simpsonville, SC | Well, after a long nights sleep, my head has cleared out a little, so I will expand on my account of the weekend.
First off, I barely picked up a guitar (for those that know me, y'all can shut up now). But the issue is this, to me, these events have become as much a Family reunion as a jam session. Don't get me wrong (I love all the musical talent and great gits), but the closeness of the group, those that I have met before and every new member that I meet are all incredible, interesting and funloving people. Having such a short time to spend with them, I tend to get carried away on the social side  of things and forget the reason that we get together in the first place (what I missed in the music, I gained in friendship and I don't regret a minute of it). On a musical side note, I did get to play a little with Nicky (CL's son) and Keith's daughter on the front porch. They both are very talented and love playing. Thank y'all for letting me sit in for a few minutes!
It was great to finally get to meet Capo Guy, 2iffy, Karen and Cheryl, Richard (he sure talks funny, but has a purdy mouth), the rest of CL's and Music's families, and Keith and his fantastic family and friends. Everyone's warm welcomes and our conversations will not be forgotten.
Seeing all the rest of the Southern Jam gang again is always special. We have grown to be quite a group of close friends. Funny to think, that just a little more than a year ago we got together for the first time, a goofy bunch of
guitar, internet geeks, bound by Charlie and Bill's great creations. It took all of five minutes for friendships to form, and the fun to begin. Every get together since then (four, five if we count Amelia) has added more members and friends. Where will be in 10 years at this rate?!
Keith, I will say it again, your hospitality was overwhelming, your family and friends are very special people and helped make the Smokey Jam incredible. Thanks for the special ride up into the hills. It will be hard for anyone to top this event.
For those that couldn't make it (and that's all of you) we hope to see you at the next one.
Finally, Sandy (SWMBO) had a great time, her first question after we left was "when is the next jam?". She took the words right out of my mouth, and for those that have met me, you know that is a hard thing to do.

Location: South of most, North of few | Well, I pulled in my place at around 6:30 this morning after a somewhat problematic trip. Iffy had to be in Bradenton to the hospital for evaluation at around midnight as his daughter had set it up. Somewhere in SC, the truck started to slow with no power so we pulled it off on an exit and into a shell convenience store. At that time, it was running on about 4 cylinders and we noticed the voltmeter was on 9 volts, so it was either a battery or an alternator, still 500+ miles from home. In my haste to back the truck into a spot to make it easier to jump it, I forgot about the U Haul in the back and promptly jack knifed it right into the side of Johnny's Tahoe, denting the rear quarter.
After a long session of testing with what we had, we found the alternator was bad. Now this is the truth: Gway found this guy named Bubba (ok laugh), that had his girlfriend call around to parts houses, found an AutoZone that was open till 9pm (on Sunday?), pulled the alternator off the truck himself, took Gway in his car 30 miles away to pick up a new one while I tended to Iffy, came back and installed it on the truck, and all was well. I am chalking it up, quite seriously, as Divine Intervention. I will remember this trip forever!
I'll try to get some pics resized as they are quite large, and get them posted. |

Left Virginia @ 9 this morning--the Joisey Goils are home safe and sound. I had a great time! Wonderful to have new family! I had fun jamming in the living room--for a Nothern girl didn't go outside much--too cold for me! Sorry I missed all the music and folks who hung outside most of the time. Thanks to all for passing around the guitars--I, too, have never seen so many guitars in one place! I enjoyed playing a number of them.
A factory tour is 'just around the corner' for me (3 hours), but I'd come back to the cabin (with Karen) for another Southern Jam. Thanks, Keith, for feeding and providing for us. Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye. It was great fun to meet everyone. Thanks, Trader Jim, for the photos--now I have faces to put with the names for some great memories.
Iffy--I pray y'all are feelin' better real soon!!!
Watch out--all y'all haven't seen the last of me!

It was great meeting you this weekend and hearing your great singing and playing. You have a leg up on a lot the members here...you are a "jam" attendee.
Stick around and enjoy the fun....no, really, we can be fun.

"J-G #1" is now home, safe and sound.
What a wonderful experience. A true blessing. New vistas, new faces, new friends, new guit-axes, new songs...and...new GAS.
Would love to come to another Southern Jam, but wouldn't want to have to go too much further. As with my compatriot, yoose haven't seen da lasta me, eder. ;)
Thank you, Keith, for your kind hospitality; thank you, TJ, for the wonderful pictures. To everyone else, thank you for all the memories to pull out and cherish.
I have a suggestion for a new name for "TR Boy;" having followed him down off of the mountain, in a billowing, blinding cloud of dust much larger than anything the Lone Ranger and Tonto ever could have hoped to raise, I think "Motoring Maniac Mike" is a really good choice if he tires of the old one...... ;) :D
Johnny, the Steely-Eyed Northern Girls are praying for your complete recovery. We love you...
Personally, I only had one disheartening experience over the weekend, and that was on Sunday. Do you know that Burger Kings in South Carolina don't sell hot tea? Only iced. (A real bummer.)
Hugs and love to all,

I'll be working up my own (in girl's keys :) ) so there will be even more fun in the future...I warned you--I'll be back...

Thanks, Jim. I finally gave in and signed up using my work computer--my boss keeps things running well!
I'm glad it worked out this way--I have faces to go with the names and yes--I did have fun!!!! But I have to say--I did notice I never saw/heard you play....
Cheryl, I hate to scare away the newbies. If you will agree to it, we can get together for a duet next time! |

Only kidding!!!...it was fun--almost like being in a band again ;) I'm glad Karen asked me to tag along. I don't know who usually goes to which events, but hopefully we will meet again. It was inspiring to see/hear so many talented musicians. And the songwriting....what a hoot!
Glad everyone's home safe and (almost) sound...

Cheryl :D Like this? After a couple years I learned to delete the part of the quote that I didn't want to quote.
If you can get in trouble from spending all your time at work and home on this site, buying way more Ovations than you need and traveling great distances to meet people in person that you only previously met on an internet chat site, then the OFC has accomplished its mission (even though Al's mission statement doesn't include these goals.) |

Thursday I get some internal ankle hardware. No external ankle bracelets fer me (not that there's anything wrong with that ;) ). I do wish I had had some of these new pain meds for the trip home!
I'm composing a long 'thanx' that I hope to get posted tomorrow. Until then, this is the future walkin' barometer signing out... |

Many, many thanks to Keith for hosting this….You bring a new meaning to Southern hospitality by going above and beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves.
Your Daddy is a hoot! I thoroughly enjoyed playing and singing a lot of good ole classic country music with him (we’ll work on that timin’ thing ;) )
We even did some firsts….like….Johnny Cash on banjo, Willie on banjo, even "Stairway to heaven" on banjo!! (which Trader Jim said was "Just plain wrong on so many levels”….. :p )
Thanks also to Dave and Jan Palmer and to ALL of your family and friends who were there….No one felt like a stranger !
Good to see all the SSJ regulars again!…..TJ, Gway, G8R, Beggin, Jas, CrimsonMike, & Nicky, Otto, Blue, MusicMike……
Got to meet some new OFC family member for the 1st time…..Capo Guy (loved your singing & pickin’) Richard (the Artist) from downunder (Super nice guy who didn’t sleep the whole weekend!)
Cheryl (Joisey goil #2) a lovely songbird (I see she finally joined the OFC!)
And IFFY…..From the minute we meet we started to have fun! Great guy with a great outlook on life…Even after he had broken his ankle, he never lost his sense of humor!
He still could laugh and joke while in extreme pain (right foot turned 90 degrees from where it should have been!) All the way down the mountain, at the hospital, and on the way back I never heard him complain….Johnny you’re one tough ole bird! (we discussed maybe he should change his screen name to "Slippy Iffy" :D )
It was good to see Beal again (great guitars and fine singin’) and Karen (Joisey goil #1) I enjoyed making music with you again…you have a wonderful voice (so does Cheryl…..must be a Joisey goil thang!)
And sorry about the dusty trip down the mountain….If it can’t do anything else, my ole truck can COAST! And to keep from heating up the brakes I just let ‘er go……I noticed you kept up pretty good in spite of the dust storm……… :D
It was nice also to meet some of the wives and youngins of a few members….Sandy, Vanessa, Amy, and all the others I can’t remember their names….
Great Friends – Great Music – Great Food = GREAT TIME
(and they even put up with my banjo…..Nuff said!) |

Darn crazy weekend drivers tried to take me out twice on the way home Sunday (26 southbound was a GAUNTLET!!) but God loves a fool so I got through both near misses without even losing any paint. :D Sounds like He put in a little overtime for TJ, too. Glad to hear you, Iffy, and Gway got through your obstacles okay Jim!
Well, not much to be said that hasn't been said very nicely already so let me just add my thanks to Keith and Co. for hosting this thing. The food, the fun, the hospitality... Nothing short of fantastic!
And a huge heartfelt thanks to ALL of the OFC family who were there for making this weekend such an uplifting experience. My Wild Eyed Southern Brothers who got me started with this craziness, (Beggin, Jas, G8R, CLMike and Nicky, TRBoy, Trader Jim, and the conspicuously missing Tidewater Tim) and all the new friends and their families that I met this weekend (Richard, Keith, Blues, Iffy, Gway, Capo, Karen, Cheryl, Music, Beal, Chris. This is truly a rare and wonderful group. Love y'all!
Thanks again, War Eagle. The cabin, the country, and the company were nothing short of amazing. It was all as perfect as could be.
Cold?? Hardly!! The music, love, and fellowship radiating from that piece of mountain this weekend were more than a match for a little temperature drop.

Thanks for all who made this a fantastic weekend which I will never forget. A big thanks to Keith for letting us destroy his Cabin (well mess it up some anyway). A big special thanks to the Captain for picking me up from the airport, minding my guitars and generally being a swell guy.
Iffy, hope the ankle gets better soon. If you weren't such a (** party affiliation deleted **) supporter we would've stopped arguing earlier and you would have gone to bed before the frost and not slipped.
What a great bunch of people. I'd love to come again, but I'll have to find someone to pay for my airfares again, and that doesn't happen often. What a booming sound with a room full of Ovations playing all at once.
Muzz we'll have to get together soon so you can see my new baby and get even more jealous. What a beauty, thanks Al. I haven't even plugged it in yet, but my fingers have adapted to that extra 1/16" with gay abandon. I first touched it at 1:00am on Saturday at Beggin's and by 3 in the afternoon could no longer play a narrow neck properly. That extra real estate is wonderful. Everytime I open the case my heart flutters when I see what's inside the case.
I ate all my grits. In my defence, I passed on the grits on Sunday morning so I could try the biscuit - I was showing my ability to try new things. But don't worry about sending care packages of grits, I'll get by somehow. |

Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Well here’s my attempt to express my fond thanx to ya’ll in no particular order, sans exclamation points and emoticons (not enough room for ‘em all).
War Eagle (Keith) , your generosity, southern hospitality, talents and especially your family (both personal and community) are just outstanding and sets a very high (no pun intended) hosting standard within the OFC.
TRboy (Mike) and Maribeth , how can I express my gratitude for that ‘special’ greeting from a special couple? Mike, thanx for MedEvac. I love that heater in your truck. Maribeth, did you get to take any ‘Mason apples’ home?
Capo Guy (Mike) , I’ll never look at my cat in the same way. Great to meet you. Let’s catch the next jam…
Captain_Lovehandles (Jas) , I can’t think of a time when I didn’t see ya without a guitar and a smile. Had fun, did ya?
AKA Richard , thoroughly enjoyed our fireside chat just prior to my pratfall. I’m sure TR enjoyed your company during our trip to Clyde. Loved that smile when you pulled out that 08C. Hopefully someone got a pic of that moment. If ya ever change your OFC nomer, how ‘bout TimTamMan? They were outrageously delicious.
Beggin (Jim) , I know you’ve never met a stranger. You’re a hoot. I watched ya jamming with Nicky and Keith's daughter and thought it a special moment.
MusicMishka (Mike) , what a joy and blessing to have you there. Thanx for the ‘moment’ in the kitchen. Here’s hoping that ya’ll will be more comfortable at the next jam.
Gway (Gary) , I don’t know what TJ and I would have done without you on that trip back. Thanx for going out of your way to tend my needs. BTW, you need to relate the ‘long hair’ experience on I95 (a la “Signs” by Five Man Electrical Band).
Otto (Bill) , I didn’t get much of a chance to talk with you but your ‘books’ really kicked the jamming into high gear (hint, hint for the rest of us).
CrimsonLake (Mike) , it was great to meet the creator of the ‘Iffy’ tag. Now if we can just stay out of trouble…
g8r (Serge) , talking ‘bout adding energy to a gathering, yo da man. I sure hope I can make the ‘Bowl Jam’.
BluesSailor (Brad) , I sure enjoyed gabbin’ and pickin’ with ya in the kitchen (actually it wasn’t you, just that FD!). As an afterthought I should have loaned ya the Academy for you next voyage. Full sails and high tides to ya…
Joisey Goil #1 a/k/a Jewel's Mom (Karen) , it was really nice to have a couple of live ‘girlie necks’ finger picking those ‘O’s & ‘A’s. Plus yours and Cheryl’s angelic voices added a sweet element to the testosterone filled cabin.
Joisey Goil #2 (Cheryl) , lady, ya gotta open up and come outta that shell. Seriously, I think you had the most fretboard time other than TR. I’m glad you joined the OFC. Now get rid of that ‘Junior Member’ status.
Mauvais Beal , I sensed that your arrival was the official OFC Jam stamp of approval. I really appreciated the ‘rest of the story’ on my 3 PU assy UK2. I won’t be washing that case you signed. Hope your pet is doing better…
Chris Campbell (future OFCer?), you fascinated me with your ability to play fill over the others. I still say you should have been amped. Good luck with your CD project.
Bubba (Perry) , you’re proof that angels can take any form. Where ever you are, bless you.
Trader Jim (Jim) , what can I say, my dear friend that I haven’t said before? You’re really someone special. Good thing you didn’t have your stress test right after our return, eh?
Thanx also to the OFC brides that did so much to enable and enhance the festivities. BTW, the UTEs (aka youn’ uns ) were awesome and so well behaved. Congrats to all the parents.
My apologies if I missed anyone (CRS is not an option, just persistent) and also for the early wake up call at the cabin.
Well I grinned, smiled and laughed so hard at the Jam that I'm gonna have the surgeon check to see if I did any permanent damage to my jaw hinges.
Thanx to all of ya'll... |

My wife and I were really impressed by the pictures of your cabin and the beautiful country around it. I thought Idaho was remote. She used to vacation in the Smokies when her family lived in the Midwest. We were hoping to get over that way when we were in Charlotte this summer, but ran out of time.
I had to scroll fast through the pictures of all those scruffy looking old guys, so she wouldn't think I was hanging out with a bunch of bums. I told her it was a hillbilly theme. |

Many of the "cabins" around ours replaced the real cabins with a vacation home that cost about $100,000 per minute of use. But they could justify spending a bunch of money on a place that never gets used, because the real estate values always go up, right?
I'm still open for a jam at our cabin, but I've been suggesting it for a few years and haven't had any takers. They seem to think driving 8-10 hours for a jam is ridiculous. |
