OVATION CELEBRATES ‘40 YEARS OF INNOVATION’ WITH ANNIVERSARY GALA

Ovation Guitars and about 1000 of their closest friends celebrated their 40th anniversary during a gala celebration at Winter NAMM.

The party got started with a slideshow celebrating the various artists that have performed with Ovation through the years and also featured music that was recorded using the innovative roundback.

“After 40 years in the business it is nice to recall all the accomplishments and great relationships that have made Ovation what it is today. We can only hope the next 40 years are as fun and enriching as the past,” said product manager Rick Hall.

Melissa Etheridge, Steve Lukather and guitar legend, Glen Campbell sent along their well wishes and congratulations via a DVD, which was played for the guests. Ovation also played the trailer from the new “Unique Voices” DVD that guests received as a party favor.

Following the DVD clips, the performances began. Kaki King was the first performer to hit the stage. King has been turning heads in the industry with her unique style and technique. Before finishing her set, Kaki invited her friend Kelli Rudick onstage to perform. After Kelli’s performance, Hall welcomed Al DiMeola and his band to the stage. DiMeola, known throughout the world as one of the most prominent virtuosos in the contemporary instrumental jazz field also boasts a signature Ovation model in his name.

Retired Kaman Music President, Bill Kaman and his wife Lorraine were also in attendance for the special evening. Bill, son of Ovation founder and aeronautic extraordinaire Charlie Kaman, worked alongside his father to help create many of Ovation’s models.

Not one to miss a good party, the infamous C.C. DeVille of POISON thrilled everyone with a surprise appearance at the party.

Hall’s eyes still twinkle when talking about the party. “This was our chance to say "thank you" to all the people that have contributed to Ovation's success over the past 40 years. It's amazing to see so many of our friends and business partners all in one room at the same time! Great food, great drink, great entertainment, and great guitars! What more could you want?” he said.

Thanks for the link ... the photographs are great. It also serves as a firm confirmation to the musical instrument making industry that Ovation guitars are here to stay.
