I have three deep bowl Ovation cases, and only one key. I find that this key works all locks, but two of them require a bit of pressure to get the key to turn and lock the case.

Is this OK, that is, does one key fit all ?
And if I shouldnt force the key, does Ovation sell keys ? I am not sure how to identify a certain case when ordering a key...

Have a nice day

Just keep a paper clip with you and you should be fine.

This sounds like another candidate for Jerome's website!

There are a variety of manufacturers so there must be some variance. Probably fit all cases and 95% of every Teeny-bopper's diary!

Why even use the key? The locks are about as secure as a wet paper bag! I have 14 guitar cases and 2 or 3 keys will work all of the locks but I don't use them any longer. Again the locks on your normal run of the mill guitar cases don't offer enough security to bother with.

Back in my high school days I used to get about town on my bicycle. Back in the dark ages every kid didn't own a car. Anyhow, I would ride with my guitar either under my arm if it was the electric, or holding the handle if it was the 12 string acoustic. I was paranoid that the case would pop open and deposit the guitar at high speed onto the street, so I always locked the case.

That was about the only use I ever found for the case locks.

Because of too-flexible cheap cases I developed the habit of holding the handle with one finger extended as a preventer for the case to open.

Catch myself still.

MWoody - I even do it with the best of cases. Not a bad habit to get into...

I was doing it and didn't realize it. Now that is a habit.

If you are in the habit of locking your case, make sure you don't do it if you fly and check the guitar as luggage. If the inpectors want in, they'll get in and it might not be pretty.
