Location: Central Florida | I apologize for the non-Ovation related question (though it is a Kaman product), but, is anyone here familiar with or better yet, the owner of one of these?
I'm trying to find a good, moderately priced wood box 12-string for possible purchase in the not-too-distant future and this is one I'm considering, but I can't find any product/user reviews on it anywhere... Is anyone familiar with this particular git?
Thanks in advance for your replies... |

Location: Cicero, NY | Though I don't own one, I have played one. I do own the EAN10C, which is a 6 string. I thought the 12 played extremely well and projected very nicely too but I must say that I like the sounds of that entire Tak line. Not a bad choice for the money. |

How would you desribe the tone of the one you played (the 12-string)? Do you you recall if it had a very deep bass response, or was it more mid and high range intensive, as most modern day 12-strings tend to be? |

Location: Cicero, NY | In my opinion, the tone was a bit more bright than warm and deep. I would agree that most 12's today (in that price range anyway) tend to focus a little more on mids, highs and projection than warm (and God forbid one comes out nicely balanced). Maybe the strings had a bit to do with that, they seemd to be on the lighter side which made it a very easy playing 12 but definitely brighter. FWIW. |

Maybe they're built better now with the new owners. |

Location: Central Florida | Thanks for the replies. Actually, it was a Guild that got me started on this quest for an all wood 12-string.
I love the tone of my Glen Campbell 12, but to my ears it has the same tonal shortcoming as so many other modern day 12's... Very little low end. I was messing around on a friends Guild not too long ago and was just totally enamored by the deep bass response that really complimented the upper end jangle for a nice full-bodied sound.
So why am I singing the praises of the Guild but asking about a Tak? Price. The Guild is just a little more than I want to spend for a second 12-string. If I were going to sell the GC that might put a different spin on things, but I have no intentions of doing that.
Anyway, thanks again for all the responses... I appreciate it! |

Location: closely held secret | Jeff, FWIW, maybe try a deep bowl CL 12, if you can find one. Mine's a '93 and even with lights on it, the bass end is very rich, yet the total sound is still very balanced. |
