Location: Albuquerque | I have an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe, and one day I was sitting on the couch jamming away when one of my kids asked me to get them something. So I leaned my guitar up against the couch, since I figured I would be right back, and when I came back the guitar was way lying flat on the floor,"Ouch", My other child suddenly disappeared (hmmmm).When I picked up the guitar I noticed that the base of the neck where it meets the body is starting to seperate, and as a result the action is a mile high now and it doesn't stay in tune very well anymore. Does anyone know if this can be repaired, and if so, would the cost of this type of repair even be worth it, considering it is not a top of the line guitar. |

Location: Midland, MI | I would think the best bet would be to send it to the mothership. But, the cost *may* be prohibitive. Maybe now's your chance to pick up one of those cedar topped Guitarget jobs (I find myself jonesing for one again). |

Location: closely held secret | Unless this child is under 6 years old, I would be checking Ebay to see how much you can get for IT... use that money to buy an American made O...
Seriously.
...um, I mean seriously, my first question would be how much is it worth to you (the guitar, not the child)? The repair could run around $200, possibly more if actual damage was done in the neck separating from the body. For not much more than that you could pick up a decent used american made Ovation. |

Location: Albuquerque | Yeah I thought about trading in my son (hehe) when he did that, but he was only about 4yrs old when it happened. I guess when it comes down to it, I am the one who should have known better. :rolleyes: The guitar itself doesn't really mean much to me other than I need it. I originally bought it back when I used to do alot of giggin', but now I only use it for recording in my home studio. I kinda figured that the cost to repair it might be more than the guitar is worth, heck..the case I put it in is probably worth more for that matter. By the way, how do the USA models compare to the El cheepo models? As far as playability and tone quality? |

For the most part, the USA models play better, sound better, hold thier value better, and just generally make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The hands-on craftmanship and superior materials really do make all the difference.
...and the factory is willing to repair them when they've been subjected to abusive conditions. Like, around children. |

Location: Orange County, California | Aren't the Celebs bolt on necks? I would think it would be a pretty inexpensive neck reset from a good local luthier.
It might even come back playing as good as a US model....not!! :p :D :p |
