I'm doing a project guitar, out of swamp ash, and I'd like to use a grain filler under a tru-oil finish. I was wondering, can I use a filler like Benwood's, which is readily available to me and cheap, or use something like LMI's micro bead, which seems pretty pricey if you include shipping.

As usual, any comments or recommendations as to which is best, much appreciated.

Parks makes a good one, but most any, including Benwood sanding sealer will work.

Sorry Skinny..parsed your message incorrectly...

Yes, use a sanding sealer, but, go with any generic oil-based filler. The polysester fillers do a nice job and you can add shades if you want to accent the grain.
