Hi, I just recently joined this comunity.

I just got an Ovation Adamas, it is quite old by its look, has some reasonable wears but overall in good condition. In its label it is written 1587-8 and 9349-86 (quite strange the numbers are handwritten, not printed). Seems this guitar is 10+ years old. Any idea when this guitar is built?

Also, for some reason the previous owner put his signature on the label above the "Ovation" text, not sure how he did it.

It's from around 1994. The signature is the president of Kaman at the time. he signed all the adamas labels. Dave

Oh, so it is the signature of Mr. Kaman, not the previous owner? Lucky I asked this forum first as I was about to erase it.

Popcritic: I'll take the picture on the weekend. It is a bit dusty, it takes a bit of time cleaning it as the top is not smooth (CVT type?)

That's a purty one, S. Would probably look real nice hanging next to my cutaway.

. . . . like I'm ever gonna get permission to do that!!!

Waskel: yes it is similar like yours, except the head and the bridge has a sort of ornament/carvings (which is hell difficult to clean).

Welcome Bijirin,

Look around at

www.ovationtribute.com

and
www.ovationgallery.com

You are bound to see one just like yours. The signature on the label needs to stay.

Hey That happens to be one of the very best Ovation guitars made. Enjoy. If you ever want to sell it place an add right in here. I'll bet you will get a lot of guy's here who would love to own it. Until then..... know you have a wonderful guitar. And yeah...leave that lable alone. and take good care of it.

Randy

Oh, duh... 1587, of course it is. An Adamas I, and I'm sure it's beautiful. Very nice instruments.

1587 is an Adamas I cutaway. Bill didn't sign labels on A2's. Dave

Thank you for all the response.

To be honest when the first time the guitar was shown to me, I question myself "what can this 'styled-plastic-guitar' do?". The biggest mistake was I tried the guitar and could not forget about it, and finally I bought the guitar!
