Location: Utah | There was a reference in another thread to O's being about twice the price of US O's. Is this true? And, if so, how is the used market?
I get to England with some regularity because of relatives living there. Perhaps I could help finance the trips by taking a new O with me each time and selling it there?
Anybody over that way have any insight on the price of O's and the demand for them? |

Location: Avondale, AZ | I know the solidbodies go for more on ebay if sold in Europe. There are some on USA ebay that are being asked too much for. They are being sold from England. |

Europeans buying an American guitar have to pay:
US-Price
+ ~100 US$ Shipping
+ ~30% of US-Price (Taxes etc.)

All in all - yes, for some models asking price is 2x US, for some not that much. Check www.ebay.de, search for Ovations and see for yourself. 1EUR = $1.196 |

No. It is 'comprehensible' but even I had to look it up to be sure. It struck my eye as wrong when I read it. However, this is English and not German where everthing is spelled the way it sounds. |

6778LX:
$899 in US and $1350 in Germany
Collector's 2006:
$1999 in US and $2750 in Germany
Seems that prizes are higher but far away from twice the prize in US.
IMHO that applies also for used guitars. But it's nearly impossible to get an O' from the 60' or early 70' in Europe. They started to import them in the mid 70'.
I purchased a good portion of my collection in the US. So if anybody needs some help or advice how to sell it to Germany/Europe don't hesitate to contact me.

My 1778 LX cost me £1350/$2349. This was in February 2004 and it was at a discounted price. My Martin D28 cost £1499/$2608, six months ago with the Eclispe system factory fitted.
All American made guitars are very expensive here in UK and suffer a huge mark up. The UK distributor for Ovation and Adamas is John Hornby Skews. See their web site: www.jhs.co.uk for UK list prices. You will be shocked.
My USA Telcaster cost £474/$825 in the States and sells here in the UK for about £800/$1392.
Buy in the States is my advice, but I like to play the guitar before buying.

Are O's expensive in Europe?
