La la la la la do do do do do do doo she's my sweet sweet sweet sweet city woman. |

Let's go off the beaten path...
Steve Martin's "Rambin' Guy".
I was afraid to put in the "guilty pleasure" thread...but there was a time.... a long time ago...when I owned.... a banjo. |

Location: North Carolina | Some blasts from the past. I still play the guitar break from Sweet City Woman for sound check. I also used to be in a band that did Midnight Flyer, and I did, in fact, play the banjo. Great tunes, both of them. But what really drew me to the banjo was John Stewart's break in Rider. It turned out it wasn't all that hard to play, but the first time I heard it I though it was nothing short of magic. |

Didn't they also play "The Beverly Hillbillies'" theme song? |

I really like the first 3 Flecktone albums.
And the song at the end of the movie Raising Arizona with the banjo and yodeling. |

Best damn version of that song I've ever heard, AND it includes the 4th mystery verse which was never recorded by Brooker (was played live) but rumor has it that this is the only recording that has it.

I also "assumed" that Ron Block (Super Player!) did the banjo part but I just read the liner notes and discovered that it was done by Tony Furtado! (also a Super Picker!!) |

| Recently moved to Georgia. Not as "Billy-bobish" as my California friends predicted. But, was walking through a parking lot yesterday. Some teenagers were driving through with their stereo playing way too loud. What were they playing? Dueling Banjos! Just seemed a bit incongruous, and brought a smile to my face. |

| A neighbor got a Smokey and the Bandit era Firebird with a primered fender recently, to drive while their primary vehicle is repaired. They call it the Dirt-mobile in honor of Joe Dirt. I think JD had a Charger or sumpin, but, someone in the film had a Firebird or Camaro. |
