Welcome.
The finish used is a Polyurethane. Tough but difficult to repair once damaged.
Ovation Customer Service should have a replacement bridge as well as repair services for your instrument.

Wood-one, 'Zat true ??? I though there was talk here (too lazy to search) that it was poly-uro-cryano-acetate or some such gobble-d-goop. That's why you use superglue to seal cracks ??? I could just be dreaming, I guess.

kb1, something to beware of, if the top is damaged due to exposure to heat you better get a mirror and check inside. The braces could have also come un-stuck. The horse never planned on you exposing the thing to high temps. Good luck, and I hope it turns out OK.

I believe Bill said Polly-your-a-thing at one time. Cyano- is the prefix for Super Glue.

I know that Ovation finish is a Poly-epoxy. Once joined forever solid.

Thanks folks, I bought it cheap. And yes, I looked at the inside first thing, All ok in there. One more question, did they finnish the top before, or after the bridge was set? You've helped...
Thanks again, Mike

I beleve the bridge is attached wood-to-wood, not wood-to-finish, if that's what you mean.

The way I've seen it through pictures is the top is finished and then the bridge position is routed out.

I think, but could be wrong, that the routing of the bridge area is fairly recent with the advent of cad cam equipment. I think older guitars have the bridge glued to the finish on the top.
