Played a GC Reissue, 1627, tonight at the local Guitar Center and was absolutely blown away by it! First, the wood top was beautiful with wonderful grain and beautiful silk running thru it. I tuned it up and was amazed by the full sound of it. I ended up jamming with a guy who was playing a beautiful Gibson and quite honestly, I preferred the sound of the GC. Just amazing, and at $1800, I don't think it's over priced at all.

I also played an 06 Collectors. Much better looking in person than in pictures and a very good sound. It's a better guitar than we've given it credit for. But I liked the GC better.

Now the bad Guitar Center news. They no longer carry Elixir strings. For those of us who play them, we're going to have to stock up on them when we can or buy them on line. Some sort of dispute that the Center is having with Elixir. Damn.

But that 1627, I like that guitar! After aquiring 3 guitars since last August, how can I justify this one?

Answer, I can't. Damn.

constitutional right to pursuit of happiness

a guitar in hand is worth two at the dealer

you always can find room for just one more

it's only money

To have GAS and not purchase is better than never knowing what it could feel like!

Thanks for the GC review.

Had I not recently ordered a #47 slothead I'd probably go a GC.

That's the problem with having the 30th Adamas ann. and the 40th ann. of Ovation being so close together.

....too many Ltd edition guitars in a short space of time.

BTW, does anyone know how long the GC's are avaliable for ?

I hate to be a stickler for such details, but this particular argument won't fly...
Though the founders did use the term "Pursuit of Happiness" in the Declaration of Independance...(I suppose Moody could go this route, but all evidence suggests his wife is a keeper)...

They did not use it in the in Constitution/Bill of Rights. Instead, they chose 'Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Property"...
This, however, could still be used to make Moody's case...

...We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Interesting comments, but I stand by my original comment, that the 1627 reissue was a wonderful guitar.

Americans who don't get their own preamble

"Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of *Property"
(*Happiness, in it's modern incarnation)
Does not guarantee the attaining of same, just the pursuit.

Very Buddhist in it's outlook, funny the country is highjacked by Christians ;)

I'm sure it IS a wonderful guitar, Paul, which is why it's killing me to hear about it. You've almost got me convinced to sell my holy grail Custom Legend to help fund one... Somebody stop me!

Paul, sorry, I was just being a smart arse. I am grateful you took the time to review the new models. It's great to know Ovation is dedicated to making great quality limiteds to augment the production models. Someday in my 'pursuit' I hope to afford one of these fine guitars.

I get Elixir on-line now from sweetwater.com . $12.97 per set and no shipping charge for nanoweb bronze.

The preamble to the Constitution does talk about insuring domestic tranquility. The only way I know to do that is to follow the first rule of marriage: the guy always loses.
