Location: Avondale, AZ | How about sharing a SHORT sample of your own lyrics. Let's keep them short, maybe a line or two or a whole stanza. Make them original. Here a sample of mine I wrote 20 some odd years ago.
Her hair is black.
It's the length of her back.
As she turns around, she smiles.
She gives a wink
to make me think
She knows I've been watching her for awhile. |

Get off my god damn back before I chop you up into little pieces with an exe and put you down the garbage disposal ...
Ooops, sorry, that was the caffeine talking.
Actually HERE is a little tune I composed while in High School. What in the hell was I thinking ...
"I was a sparrow growing up in a nest...
"I sang but I couldn't fly...
"I had a world made to sticks and twigs...
"I had no need to know why...
"There'll come a day when I know that I must...
"Go out and fly on my own...
"But I don't want to leave me nest, not quite yet..
"And leave this perfect home...
God help me. I think I liked the Roses Are Red version better.

You're Gonna find a new way
'Till there's nothing standing in your way
'Till the time that you just want to stay
If you have any interest in hearing the song. It's posted on my website www.jebmusic.com on the "song samples" page. I used my Legend LX 12 string (and my Martin) when I recorded it. |

When we could be breakin' every rule
Crush our passion into one big ball
And send it bouncin' offa' every wall
So if you ain't here after
What I am here after
You will be here after
I'm gone
(Believe it or not, inspired by a 17th century poem by Andrew Marvell "To His Coy Mistress") |

Falling through the night
Lit my eyes for a moment
Then it passed on out of sight
Never reached it's destination
No, it never got that far
I couldn't help but see myself
Just like that falling star
About 20 or so years ago. |

I taught this one to my kids for Valentines Day.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Somebody farted
I think it was you |

Rosie's Song
She was born down in Texas, late in the fall
Singin' was the thing that she liked doin' most of all
She sang some songs to God, some to her fellow man
The thing that she liked most of all was singin' with a band.
Chorus
Rosie why'd you go away and leave some songs unsung
I know if you'd have stayed around we'd sing another song
Rosie why'd you go away so soon? |

| shiver in shadows of regrets' ghosts
I'm frozen in time in the snow
on cold stone steps of the stone cold church
a place where the angels won't go
Chorus:
It's a hundred miles to nowhere
two hundred west of regret
a thousand miles ahead of me
don't know where I'm headed yet |

There once was a lady from Nantucket |

Mama's tryin' to bring me up
She don't know that I been around
Preacher's tryin' to find me the Lord
Daddy's still lookin' for the Ford
And Sweet Suzie want to go once more
As I'm headed out the door
I'm gettin' out of Hangtown
Hitch the horses and bring 'em around
I'm gettin' out of Hangtown
'Cause there ain't no living when you gotta be underground
They say they got an old oak tree
With a place just waitin' for me
Got a stone with the name Bobby
And a ditch in the ceme'try
Found the Sheriff's wife in my bed
Say I'm gonna pay with my head
The smartest thing that my Pappy ever said
Was stay alive 'cause it's better than dead
So I'm gettin' out of Hangtown
Hitch the horses and bring 'em around
I'm gettin' out of Hangtown
'Cause there ain't no livin' when you gotta be underground |

Give up on this one. Nothing will rhyme with 'Nantucket'. |

"There once was a bloke from Heathrow
With G band strapped to his dawbro
He'd pick and he'd sweat, like a bad Chia Pet
Borrowing gear from who-the-hell I don't know."
With all due appologies to my good friend Mr. Templeman |

Seen carrying some parts in a bucket.
"It was once my guitar"
"Til it fell off my car"
One good kick and they said I should chuck it! |
