All messed up today.some of you might have read about a guy giving me a Viper recently.now before you guys kick me out of your group.[big sigh] I gave it back.not because I wanted to it is sweet.but I felt realy bad because he had no idea about it's value.and history behind it.a guy by the name Rick Deringer gave it to his brother who happened to play drums for him.so after much soulsearching i gave it back with dire warinings about taking care of such a wonderful guitar.I've finished the repairs and put it in it's case after playing one last time.My wife thought it was ugly like that was going to help with my pain [can ya feel me].so would you have done the same???am I human after all?whats the meaning of life?do I realy Feel guilt??Man...my head hurts.Wait.. their is hope I have been waiting 6 months for another guy to bring a mid 70's Fender yes Fender Tele. also natural finish.for me to check out.He is in upper state NY.he recalibrates our radar units every 6 months.he is original owner .now get this he doesn't play anymore and said he would sell it to me for what he paid for it.$600.yea man.15 days and counting.wish me luck . and can I still take the factory tour? I'll sit way in the back with a borrowed Viper .Thanks Dave

Knuckledragger,

YOU DID A GOOD THING. You reap what you sow.

Expect good things in the future. :)

P.S. If I were going on the tour, I'd see you got front row first chair. :D

Dave, I am going to petition Al to give you an invite for the Tour, because of your deep compassion for your friend, and your heartfelt desire to reunite him with this valuable heirloom instrument.

Then I'm going to ask him to revoke it, because you actually acted on this insane impulse.

 Good job. Hope the Tele is all you hope it is.

It was the right thing to do, Dave. Rest assured, the ones who need to know that and appreciate it for what is is, already do. Nice work.

It's called character.
All the really good stuff is just slightly painful.

Learn to love the pain, it means you're growing and healing. ;)

Mr Dragger.

Few people would have done something so right. Well done, and you should stand tall. I don't understand how some people sleep at night with the way that they conduct themselves these days, but it's good to see that there are people who do the right thing by others. Especially when it hurts.

Karma indeed. You did right, and I'm sure that no-one on the tour would berate you from turning up with your strat knowing this story!

You did the right thing!

I really am intrigued that the guitar once belonged to Rick Derringer ... that's really cool. It definitely has some unique history, and now you have a story to tell others that - although it was brief - the guitar once found its way into your hands.

Members like you is what makes the OFC unique from the other forums out there. Of course, it's never too late to be a part of the factory tour next month. Just send Al an e-mail to sign up for the tour, and you're set!

The boys should be able to get some "Shop" credits for the excursion! Have them bring a poster board so that all of us can sign it!

Tell them they need to write a short Essay :( but you'll also stop for Ice Cream.

Look forward to seeing you all!

Dave, I hate to be the dark cloud, but I think there's an age restriction on the Factory tour. How old are your boys?

As a former Enron Exec and VP of Finance at Adelphia, where I ended up after WorldCom and before Tyco, the recent rash of considerate and unselfish acts around here disgusts me.

Excuse me, while I go cash in my stock (thank god, for 'Mark To Market' accounting) and gamble away some schmuck's pension.

Last time Cliff was able to sneak in under the limit. But Moody was too old and he had to wait outside with the llamas. Dave

No, Moody was able to sneak in later under Brad's skirt. Don't know how he found room with Temp under there...
