Sorry to go outside the box here, but good sounding guitars should be discussed no matter who makes them. Here's a Martin CEO-5 on ebay.

CEO-5

With all due respect, this is one of the best sounding guitars you'll ever find in this price range. The CEO-5 is pretty rare but doesn't command huge dollars because it isn't rosewood. But I've played it and man oh man what a tone. As far as slope shoulder 12 fretters I'd place it right up there. If the price stays below 2k, someone is going to end up with a great instrument. This would be a very nice complement to a roundback collection.

Dave isn't kidding, these are really, really nice. ;) The bearclaw tops are stunning. $2K is about the going price for pre-owned ones. Bummer the original case isn't included.

Thanks for the heads up. A friend of mine has been looking for a 12 fretter, we'll see if I can get it for him.

What is the shape of these necks like? A V shape or really rounded or what?
Thanks.

does Martian even make"V" shaped necks? I can't remember ever playing one that wasn't a "C" shape.

Bill, You should post your question on the Martin board!!!

They call it a Low Modified Oval. I only played the CEO-5 once and to be honest I don't remember anything significant about the neck. I was too blown away by the sound. I never should have walked out. Next day the guitar was gone. Here's the spec page on the CEO-5.

CEO-5

My 12-fretters (D18VS and HD28VS) have what they call it a soft V. To me it feels very much like current Ovation profiles.
