Location: SoCal | I think that this guitar, being acoustic only, is pretty rare. I saw this auction last nite when it went up and thought about throwing up a token bid just to get things started. This morning I saw that Tony did just that.
And yeah, sound-wise, these things are the cat's ass. Best 12 out there. |

Besides....I got my 1688. Best 12 ever made. |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | I banged my elbow about 4 months ago and then slept on my arm funny causing damage/shock to my ulner nerve. This has caused the palm of my left hand and the ring/pinkie finger to be completely numb and without strength. Went to accupuncture with no relief, went to the doctor and his encouraging words were "yeah, those are a bitch. Could be anywhere between 2 weeks to a year before all the feeling comes back!".
Can't make a bar chord but I can play simple 3 finger chords as long as it is not a fast change. Really frustrating to go pick up a guitar every night to monitor progress and then put it down after 5 minutes, totally frustrated.
It has improved slightly over the last month...probably only 80-85% numb now! Hopefully this means I am on the road to recovery and it will be usuable again within another month or so.
I never knew how mentally tough it would be not to be able to make a little music each day. |

Hope those barre cords come back soon. |

Really, are you doing anything else for it - hand exercises and such?
I used to have serious circulation problems in my arms, from breaking them both in a motorcycle accident in younger days. My right arm would fall asleep when I was playing (perhaps a commentary on my playing). Switching to O's has helped a lot, because the edge isn't digging into my arm anymore. |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | No real therapy other than massaging my hand and trying to play the guitar and most importantly, trying to make sure I don't lay on my arm while sleeping. I did the usual interent research and talked to my doctor (who is really good IMHO) and everything basically said that "time" was the main healing factor.
The biggest issue is mental.....not feeling parts of your hand, not being able to do simple things like turning the key to unlock your car door, not feeling pain when you do something stupid, etc.
My hand is the reason I cancelled my plans to attend the OFC this year. It would have just been too frustrating to have all the awesome guitars around and not be able to play them and also not be able to participate in the jam sessions.
I guess I could come and just hand around Cliff so that whenever he started to sing I could jump in with an offkey harmony! |

Location: Scotland | Stephen, while I was demo-ing for G-band capo I discovered this real neat move with the 2-string version. I came up with it lying in the bath the night before I flew out to NAMM so it didn't make it on the video demo. Anyway, the idea is you put the capo at the first fret covering strings 1 & 2, then by using one simple chord shape you can play C F & G without having to form a bar. If you want to play in other keys put a conventional capo 1 fret behind the g-band. Send me your address and I'll have colin send you one. |

Damn that OFC DVD...I'll know better this year.
A word of caution to folks on their first tour. The camera don't lie and Waskel don't edit.
To be forwarned is to have four arms |

As long as I don't have to know why Paul was playing with his G-Band in the tub. |

You need to come to the Tour!
Since we have an Orient.. er Official Photo guy maybe we need a Colorado Back-Up Photo Guy.
With the G-band you'll have as many chords as Moody anyway.
There's a long history of Europeans making discoveries whilst bathing.
As far as this guitar goes (back on track) I would love to have it! Kidney or Testical? |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Stephen, try some physical therapy. I damaged my ulnar nerve when I broke my left arm several years ago. The physical therapist brought most of the feeling back, but it still isn't what it was. After months of PT, when I was released, I asked her when she thought I could go back to playing guitar. She said if I had told her, she would have used the guitar playing as part of the therapy exercises.
If it's not better in 6 years and 3 weeks, let me know. My daughter will trade you some PT for one of your guitars. |

This auction is starting to look like it has a couple of shills driving up the bid.
Two (0) feedback bidders...one account established in '99 without ever winning anything and the other from '03 with the same modus operandi.
But here is the interesting part. Both of these two bidders have each had "2" bid retractions in their history.
I find that rather interesting. |

The reserve is about where it will probably sell but it is a nice instrument.
He's not an OFC'er as he said he mainly has Gibsons. Asked me if I would post on the OFC.
The shill bidders will probably drop off way before the reserve. |

BTW, since this thread has already gone way off, what are G-bands? Anything like a cut capo?

Reserve is at $2,000 as determined by a bidder that was then retracted.
Mr. Spider, welcome to the auction.
Check out: G Band
and see Paul's demo; he sounded so good at NAMM (with Michael's Viper and Bose system) |

the G band is like a cut capo. There are 2 versions one that covers the top string and one that was designed to cover the top 2 strings. They can be used in tandom and can be reversed to cover the low strings.
Paul Templeton is demo-ing and selling them. |

I'll still get GAS, but it will make me happy!
The G Band is the antithesis of the Cut Capo but somehow it works anyway. It's that whole 5ths and 7ths thing. I hope to bring a couple back to show you. |
