Strange that it came in a black case when the eBay listing shows brown...trying to verify with Kim whether it ships brown or black. |

Need to make some space on your walls? More likely in his bed. If it was me it would be on the couch where I'd be sleeping every night. |

Yes, something has to come down to make room...probably the Millennium or the Adamas II.
Now to figure out the strap for the ring. Don't want to tie it. Guess I could use my banjo strap for awhile. |

Look into dave.capps on Ebay. He made a great custom leather strap for my 12 string using my dimensions for how I like it to sit across my shoulders.
He should be able to come up with a satisfactory latch or grab that won't abrade. |

But that's not important right now.
Tony is busy playing his new guitar. |

Location: SoCal | Heck, had about 20 min when it first arrived, have about 1/2 hr before I finish the stuff that allows me to pay for it.
I agree with Jerome, the 10th picture is closer to the top...a little darker than ol' 47 but gorgeous. For me, setup is right on. Finish work is excellent.
A light weight guitar, excellent balance (some don't like the Adamas I as it is a heavier neck), and the neck feels so good. Didn't check the shape, etc. When I pick up any of the other Ovations and Adamas, if I don't notice the difference - who cares. I can go from a Custom Legend to an Adamas 6-str to a 1537 to a 2005 Coll to the 1718-X to the 2001 Coll to the JL3 etc., and just keep picking.
Need to put new strings on the U681T before I do a side-by-side however already know that this one is the most powerful and sweetest sounding of any of my guitars - and I have 4 Adamas I 6-strings, an Adamas II 6-string, and the U681T. My wood tops don't come close. Maybe that is too harsh - let's just say "different". This slothead is different. Some don't like the "slothead sound" and would prefer the 1687, the 30th Anniv CL, 1537, etc.
What I like about this is that it is new, well built, reasonable cost (compared with other quality guitars), and with warranty. I would have no problem taking it anywhere. If I had one of the original, would probably be more concerned about the $10-12,000 cost and hide it away.
I will take some pics later but OFC's upload utility still isn't working.
Already asked Kim to thank anyone and everyone at the factory who touched it. |

Given that is has no access hole, does the wrench matter? :) Even without electronics, I'm surprised they don't have an access hole if for no other reason than to allow service/adjustment. |

for some reason, never thought that it had a floating fretboard (like the 1537) - could probably slide a credit card under it.
we know that the prototype of the U681T (owned by two OFC'ers) have the floating fretboard; that the U681T has the floating fretboard sealed to reduce the overwhelming base.
the # 47 reissue has a great balance from bass to treble. |

Mine does NOT have the "floating fretboard"...it's glued tightly to the top. |

Location: SoCal | Michael, thanks. Woz, is your proto free floating?
It sure appears that mine was designed to be free floating but, like others, has some type of "gunk" (? silicon) filler. Looks good, just similar separation as the 1537. Figured it was to dampen the bass.
As to # 3, asking seller to try and find the packet that came with the guitar as they sent me the packet for a 1778LX (regis card filled out for a 1778LX). And, I don't have a wrench for the truss rod for the # 3 and the CL's. Being a nice guy, I inadvertently gave away my last one. Course, with the Adamas and CL necks - will probably never need one. |

Actually it feels GREAT to be free of the old monster that I created. It's like being a whole new person. Like looking in the mirror for the first time after getting a boob job.

If they keep producing, the serial number will probably be six digits such as 601106 as other special orders. Will just make the early ones unique (i.e., 03) |

I saw a comment about Music Store interventions immediately after I first wrote about the fluke of me popping into that store out here (1st music store visit in 5 years) at the same time the Kaman rep was there.
I guess I want to know what exactly qualifies as an "intervention". :)

The extreme would be wanting to choke the Dumba$$ out of them or tuning the O's and untuning the M's and T's. |
