Hey, I found this balladeer on ebay and was thinking of picking it up. It would be my first ovation.
Is this a good one, especially for the price?

It has a few cracks though. I'm not sure if that will affect the sound.

This looks like a good buy...if they are just finish cracks, not an issue, if they are cracks in the top, that could be an issue. Hard to tell much from the pics...

Send the seller an email and offer him $175.

Not a bad price. I've seen lots of Ovations with finish cracks along the neck. I have one. A Balladeer is a good way to go for your first Ovation.

Yeah, my Custom Balladeer is about the same age
and I love it to death-do-us-part. 'Course I've
had it since new....so it's more like family
than a tool. Normal wear and tear stuff like little
cracks do less than nothing to harm the sound, IME.

My first was the 1112-1 and it has some marks but has aged sweetly!

This unit would be good for your first O.

There will be more...

He said they're cracks in the top, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting or not...

Having this one for your first Ovation would be better than having one of those imports

I agree it's a good idea to stay away from used imports. I just think he can do better if he waits a while longer for one to come along that is in better condition.

Azeem, how about this one? Ebay item# 7410285742 One owner guitar, seller might come down on the price because he had no bids.

If I had the extra bucks I would have bought that Cedar-top. It's a USA model, good electronics, original case,. (but, I think the shipping cost is too high)

Thanks for the advice everyone! That one does look good... Maybe I'll send him a message asking if he's willing to drop the price.

Is this one worth the price? Can the damage be fixed easily?

If the other guy gets back to me, I might just get the one that just came off bidding.

I'd just put a little dark stain on the scuff marks. It's an OK deal for the money. You can do better. Dave

This is a great guitar at the price. Foil label Balladeer with a five piece truss rod neck and OHSC. The cracks won't make a difference to the way the guitar sounds or plays.

At $265 with shipping, Buy it now!
