Might as well post it so that it can be assimilated... (I don't remember seeing it posted previously)

"In mid-2001, Ovation made some prototypes of guitars with new cosmetics, designed to appeal to its core user base: electric guitarists."

I didn't know 'electric guitarists' were the core user base. :p
Never thought of Glen Campbell, Josh White, Al Dimeola, Melissa Etheridge or any of the others as 'Electric Guitarists'...

That's such a coincidence; a friend has one, and I played it some just last night--plays really nice, sounds pretty good; we had the Tangent & Jewel show going on, and they sounded pretty good together.
If I could find one with as nice a neck as this particular one has, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The soundholes on the Mustaine proto are new and different. The one he's playing in the pic looks like run of the mill tangent.

I used to have one 357T-5P (sold it locally last spring). Nice looking guitar and very confortable to play due to the super shallow bowl.... but when it comes to sound it doesn't hold the "O" magic, at least to my ear...

But the guitar in his hands is an Elite T...

No Tangent headstock... But it looks like a rosewood fingerboard, or it really needs a bath.
Maybe it is an older, no TRC model...

Nice idea, wonder if they'll tell you the truth about how successful they were or weren't.
I think they suck but they got the ball rolling to the Elite T which is a good thing.

There are no mistakes in product research. Just new things we don't have to build again now that it's done.

I'd still put the plastic down.

That information is kinda old. Mustaine hasn't been with ESP for a while. He's with Dean guitars now.

However, he does tend to stick with Ovation when they play acoustic. I posted this about 2 years ago.. (see below)
