I thought that we had put an end to this with the timely death standing O? :p :D :p
I think I should be able to get at least $3K for my 1763. It's only got one ding, one finsih crack, Oh and it's an FRG, but it has ebony tuners, "very special" strings, and sounds great... |

Well... the dude dropped his shipping to $86.50 What a bargain! Not.
Then... did you guys take a look at his previous feedback? When I looked at the whole basic attitude, it looks like he's REAL PROUD of the stuff he owns. Lots of complaints of his stuff being less of a quality than in the ad....
He also has more than a few complaints about dings and defects in stuff and then blames the buyers. I personally don't believe that many buyers damage their goods right after buying.
Definitely not a nice person - I'd pass on anything this guy had to sell.
Methinks he's been out in the sun too long in his cornfield. |

I just got THIS letter from this nut...
Listen up Greg, if you have nothing better to do than to belong to an "Out of Date" Guitar Fan Club and spend hours composing a letter in a vain attempt to build yourself up, you're wasting your time my friend. Guess this guy really knows his guitars...after all, he has 50 classicals! I sent him the spreadsheet that Ovation put out showing the retail prices on guitar that they have built from 71-05...don't guess he appreciated the gesture :D |

I would have no interest at any price in a guitar offered by someone who is selling it in addition to a lot of other "stuff" on ebay. His 49 other classicals are probably just part of the inventory he's churning.
His shipping has come down to sixty-something dollars, though. That baby's gonna fly out of there any day now. |

He's probably all excited about the interest in his item - given he's up to almost 300 hits on the dumb thing now. Too bad most of those are probably from us idiots in this outdated fan club, huh? |

Maybe that loan is due, 'eh? |

If someone does bid on this, I will be forever amazed at the depth of human stupidity. |

The "flagship" of his collection that he never hardly used. Yeah... makes a whooooole lotta sense. |

"It all depends on the condition of the guitar.
A typical Ovation like this in average condition after 30 years might bring as little as 1,500., on the other hand, an Ovation like this one in Like New condition can range as high as 3-4 grand. Its always a subjective value according to the collector, the supply & the demand."

Whereas this guy is definitely a low class creep showing very bad decorum, at BEST -- i doubt that what he is doing is against eBay rules or anything.
It would be sad if anybody fell for this type of tactic -- but "there's a sucker born every day" and plenty of sharks to eat them -- just the way it is.
Just my opinion, but i just shake my head and move on. Why waste any time on it?

Seriously. It's a numbers game.
As far as eBay being a "reputable" business... I'd like to know exactly what the definition of "reputable" is. If it means "big" - Yes.
Otherwise, I think eBay has got to be about as evil of a business (or more so!) as most pawn shops.

Shapespeare.
I suppose a lot depends on your point of view. I've only ever bought stuff from pawnshops, never pawned. Might make a difference of opinion.

What Antiques Road show....yikes the price people are willing to pay for...Junk.
Or my buddy who bought a 69 Z-28 for over $30K. I am like, man you could have bought a relatively new Vette for that much money.
If the guy sells it, more power to him. If he doesn't, he can always console himself that he still owns his $2500, $400 guitar.
Ebay is all about the ridiculous sometimes... |

I had asked him about the $300 case and this was his response: "This is a Custom made case from the Ovation Factory for that Classical Electric Ovation Guitar." Maybe an offer of $500 will take guitar and case home.

Ummmmmmm.....don't 2 2inch finish cracks mean that it does have a blemish, maybe 2 blemishes. I can tell that EVERYTHING this guy has is the best. Looser |
