Location: missouri | I'm new here so I hope someone can help me out.
The tuner on the low E string froze up; it will not turn despite working on it. I received this guitar for Christmas in '78 and this is the first trouble I've had. Any suggestions?

Can you send me a picture of the tuners, especially the securing screw placement. I might have a replacement for it.

I'm guessing the original tuners were VERY inexpensive: not sealed, probably a $12/set from a place like StewMac. Since this is not a "vintage" type guitar where you'd feel a need to keep the same "footprint" on the back of the headstock, maybe time for a slight upgrade. Relatively inexpensive sealed tuners wouldn't cost much and would be a big improvement. Even chrome Ping tuners with the Ovation logo ordered from the Factory wouldn't cost that much.
I'm just thinking that the other tuners on your guitar may not be far from failure. Just a thought. John <>{ |
