Do not buy the Pinnacle. It is a good guitar, but for 700 you could get a much better guitar. Try a used Legend or Elite.

IMHO, The Pinnacle is the best of the best of the offshore models. It has a AA Spruce solid top, abalone purfling around the soundboard, good tuners, and quality construction throughout. It is a very good guitar. I think $700 is high, but I don't know what the market is like in the Dominican Republic. They have typically gone in the $400 range on eBay in good condition. I've played these guitars and find them every bit as good as entry level USA Elites.

Yes, the Pinnacles are good for what they are. I just think for $700, one would be better served by calling Al or GregoryS, and paying for shipping.

Definately....for $700 get a good used USA made.

You might post a "wanted" notice in the "for sale" section and see what turns up.

The Difference between it and the LX models are signifigant. Lyrachord GS Bowl, Scalloped LX Bracing, Inlaid Epaulets, Advanced Neck System , Op-Pro Pre-amp.

Would I still buy one if it was a good deal? Absolutely!!

Email Al (alpep@aol.com) or Gregory (GregoryS@wcc.net) and see what they can get for you. Both of these guys are authorized Ovation dealers and may be able to get you something better than the Standard Elite for that much money. They may be able to get you an LX for the $700 you have.

The Standard Elite is an excellent guitar. If that is the best you can get, go for it. I would rather pay the $759 for the Elite than the $450 for the Pinnacle. The USA built guitars are much better than the Korean built ones. The LX models are just that much better.

You can also watch Ebay. With a little patience, you could get a used USA Ovation (Balladeer, Legend, or Elite) for much less.

Here are a couple from ebay that may work for you. If they don't ship out of the country, I'm sure somebody here will be willing to receive it and then ship it to you.

Or...

I have an Elite 6778LX in very good condition that just isn't getting played enough since I got the 1581. But I need $800 plus shipping.

Sorry, this picture's a little dark. I can supply daylight ones if you are interested.

I recently purchased a GC057 Celebrity and was very impressed with the sound. It's a super shallow cutaway with the pearl rosette around the soundhole instead of the traditional leaf rosette. I bought it at Guitar Center and they had three in black (my favorite color). The other two sounded okay but the third one was awesome. A word of advice; play several before you buy because they all have their own personality.
