Location: Reading, Pa. | I recently purchased an old Ovation. It is identified as an Ovation Ultra mod. 1511 made in U.S.A. In Ovation's material I haven't found mod. 1511. Anybody know anything about this guitar? Thanks I'm new to this site and Ovation but I have been playing a Takamine AN10 for a number of years. |

Location: Tennessee | Welcome Larry. The 1511 was made in 1982 only and originally listed for about $400. It has a laminated spruce top, and also has a neck made out of a foam product called Urelite, even though it looks like wood. The early Ultra guitars were made in an Ovation facility in Mooseup, CT and were designed to be a more affordable Ovation, but it was also another experiment in using other composite materials on a guitar. I have a sister model (1311) and I enjoyed it for many years before moving up in the Ovation line. |

Location: Reading, Pa. | Thanks Stone' , I paid $100. for the guitar and thought it would make a good beater. The Takamine doesn' t like the weather too much. |

Location: Tennessee | Great deal for a great beater. Stay connected with us here ... there's lots of good information and banter. Plus, you'll get a terrific case of gas and soon own many Ovations. :) |
