Not sure if I'm alone on this or not. Recently I have gotten some unsolicited offers from OFC members via PM. Not the "hey, do you want a copy of my Doors DVD ..." stuff. But real commercial stuff from peoples business outside of the OFC. I'm not sure how others feel, but I consider this an intrusion (much like spam). Rant over.

I've not received anything, but if I did, I'd pretty much share the same feelings towards it as you do . . .

I've also not seen anything like that, but like Cliff, I know I wouldn't appreciate if I did.

Ditto Cliff and Paul.

Why don't you confront the offending OFC member and ask them point blank why they did it.

Please note that this is totally AGAINST the OFC policy. When you sign up we specifically state that you will not be put on any spam list or be subject to any nusiance mail be it e mail or private message.

I agree with the above members and applaud Al for clearly reiterating the BB policy. Unsolicited offers are a "no-no".

Maybe it's just you Dave. Invites to tupperware parties maybe?

Seriously though, not having to worry about crap like that is one more thing that makes the OFC an unusually great place online.

Haven't had any problems personally either, but if I did, I'm with the majority.

Geeez Dave,

I really thought you "wanted a good time"! I guess I should stop writing your cell number on truck stop bathroom stalls too.

:D :p :D :p

BTW, how much does it cost you per minute if we call you on your cell while you're in Europe? :D

FWIW here's what my other favorite site has for rules:

Rules of the Unofficial Tacoma Guitar Forum:

- Absolutely no obscene language or pictures. Graphic expletives discouraged also.
- No hateful or hurtful posts.
- Please refrain from personal attacks or slandering.
- Keep within topic subject when possible
- Dealers please ask permission before advertising
- Don't gripe unless willing to be part of solution

They also enlist five Moderators.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Self assesment:
- I do occasionally use obscene language
- Graphic pictures, no exceptfor my Martins
- Graphic expletives? Fu*k yes!
- Personal attacks and slander, yes but not on purpose
- Stay within topic? Rarely
- I'm not a dealer so at least I got one CLEAN mark
- I do gripe, but I am always willing to be part of the solution as long at I'm in the right.

If anyone ever sent me any of that crap I'd kick their ass. But you guys seem really nice, so I'm gonna overload your in-box with sales fliers from my job.
Lotsa Luv,
