I know this may be a tough one for some but will anyone own up to owning one of these & if so how about a review . My personal thought is that they are just to ugly to hang around your neck . Any thoughts ??? GWB |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Standingovation once had some aweful things to say about this guitar's looks. I'm sure it's in the archibes somewhere. Something about the top being tampon-white and how appropriate that the silver-ish epaulet trim looked just like the inside of a clam-shell. Just some aweful comments. You know how cruel he used to be ...
Fortunately I am above all that. I have my own personal preferences of course, but I would never criticize other peoples equipment (shut up Cliff). Some people would consider this a very nice guitar. I'm sure it plays and sounds great. The looks are a matter of personal choice. Heck people say my FD14 is fugly, but I love it all the same. Even ugly dogs are still technically "mans best friend".

The fact that Ovation has XX of these IN STOCK, and XX of the 12 string model (most Adamas stock levels are X, 597's maybe X or X) should tell ya something. Gregory

If you have a problem with something I post, please do NOT take this approach with me again.
As I said to you in the private email that I sent to you. Ban me, ask me to leave, or delete my post.
Trust me, there was a lot more written, but after reading it again, why bother. Your board, enjoy it. |

I did not edit your posts. I have sent you e mails and you never responded.
The bottom line is you are welcome here but you really have to watch what you post and how you post it.
BTW. why did you edit your post? If you legitimately feel that way post and keep it up for all to read. I have no issue with that. |

I own it, and I found it to be top of the line. The MEWP-II, due to the missing lower sound holes will accentuate the lower end of the sound spectrum. That's the style now and people like it, especially when playing live at volume.
I've been playing it now for 3 years, and where ever I go, people say it's beautiful both sonically and cosmetically. Not a mention of gayness. Could be because I live in "Gay-jew-stan" but I don't think so. Most people just say, cool guitar and that other factor doesn't enter into it one bit.
As to the appearance, if you like white guitars, you'll love it. I like white guitars. So there. |

I think the pearl white is awesome looking.
Ever wonder why people think a "white" acoustic looks gay but a "white" electric looks awesome?
Here are a couple of my favorite electrics!
I had a nice white Ovation for a while but sold it, not because of the color, but because it was a SSB and did nothing for me sound wise..
OH YEAH.....I did sell it to a girl!!!!!! :D ;) |

Since the guitar is played by a queer woman, that's a bit of a double whammy. A lot of the acoustic-guitarist image is about being a manly master of your craft - associations with women and homosexuality don't help that much at all.
That being said, I think it's the pearloid rosette that tips this particular guitar over the scale. It takes the white guitar, which clearly can be pulled off, and adds a feminine decoration to it.
But for all my ranting, I wouldn't play one either. :D |

The "Q" word might be offensive for many.
Just my opinion. |

I'd still prefer it over most any acoustic with a pickguard!
As for using the correct words - I find people's tolerance and fear factor totally absurd. I'll spare the soapbox for this forum but if your interested you can see my posts at

They are both Warrior guitars which for my money are the best electrics I have ever played....period.
The top one is a signature series. The one that I personally own is a spalted maple with 200 year old wood.
It is customised with a RMC piezo system and a built in midi controller and wired for stereo.
That white signature is still currently (I think) available at my local shop for a significant discount.
The bottom one is my '55 vintage throwback. I always wanted the Strat-Tele sound but was not a fan of the Fender necks. This guitar does it all....both sounds plus a neck I love.

| Only the fact that Jimi played a white guitar stops me from launching into what I really think about white guitars.
White acoustic guitars are like '72 Dodge Chargers with a Prius motor; Moody with a pink purse; cliff singing John Denver. |

They are custom builders so they only show on the website what they currently have in house. Some of their dealers might have a white one but if that is really what you want, send them an email with the picture attached and tell them that it was originally at GuitarX in Denver.
They can pull their info and quote you a price and delivery....they could also tell you of any local dealers where you might be able to go and try one out before ordering.
You could also contact GuitarX and ask Gary if he still has it in stock. I did not see it listed on their website but that doesn't mean its not in the store.
email is sales@guitarx.com and Gary is the owner. |

The top one is a "signature" series in white. That is the one that might still be at the store at GuitarX.
My signature is the one pictured earlier with the spalted maple top. Same guitar with different ornamentation. |
