Location: SoCal | Matt is at the GuitarTrader in San Diego Tuesday, June 13th; at West LA Music on June 14th.
What is going on? Matt does a fabulous Chop Shop...whether you participate or just watch the show.
I have been at three of his appearances (yes, I am slow...repetition for retention). Amazing how important the Kaman Rep, the store supporting Matt, and Matt appreciate when we come. At all three that I attended, the Rep (Joe Montoya) specifically recognized the OFC.
Come, participate, learn, and enjoy.
Anyone coming? I will be at the San Diego one on the 13th. |

What does "chop shop" mean? Being new to the fan club I haven't heard the term before. |

I'll let some of the guys that were at the tour sing praises of Matt...a workshop in alternative tunings, pushing your playing level to a higher level, etc.
As to West LA Music, it will be at the Santa Monica store, phone: 310-477-1945.
Here's a couple of pictures from one that was in Temecula

Location: SoCal | Had a good time at the San Diego Chop Shop last night. Fred came down. Unfortunately, Rudy had to work. Believe we will have a couple of new members soon.
Somehow, before the chop shop last night, we ended up with about a 50min jam in store's shipping room...led by Matt. Joe Montoya, our Kaman Rep, had provided a "banquet" of Mexican food.
We had my 1687-93 (serial 666), the 1687RI, the 47RI, and Fred's CE.
Just about all of the sales staff from the store and the General Manager were back and involved/playing. Everyone had a good chance to experience the guitars. Would have been a great video.
And, by the way, Matt did his usual great job. OFC was recognized and Fred won a box of strings.
Anyone who can, Santa Monica is tonight. |

Location: SoCal | Gotta admit, I'm looking forward to tonight. I was going to take my FD14, but it's going in the shop for a neck adjustment to correct a buzzing string. Now I can't decide whether to take the 87 C, or the 1773LX. |

NO, they only make your feet look fat! For christs sake just take any old guitar and worry about having FUN, not about how you look. Give Matt a hug for me.

Location: Burbank | This sounds odd that Matt would do a chop shop at West LA music, they don't sell Ovation or Adamas at all, at least not at the Universal City store. |

| He is not your alter-ego fred. He's a cartoon superhero. We've spoken about your sugar intake before.
So how many sets of strings were in the box and what are they? |

Location: So. Cal. | The Chop Shop took place in a medium size room in some sort of a community center across the street of West L.A. Music. There were over 20 people attending including the original guitarist for "Steppenwolf" (Michael Monarch?). Matt played the usuall jaw dropping tunes on the mandolin, baritone, Elite turned Hawaiin lap steel and '06 Collectors.
The same dropped D tuning lesson was taught with the world's quickest re-tuning of guitar demonstrated (less than 30 seconds each guitar for 15 or so guitars).
Moody and I both won a pack of 1818 (I got two!). A regular customer of West L.A. won the giveaway (Black Celebacy). Most people got at least one or two packs of 1818.
Everybody went home happy. |

Location: SoCal | The one in San Diego, same as the other two that I went to previously, was more of a talk-through presentation. Believe that Fred and I were the only ones who brought guitars. Seats in theatre style. Matt on a stage. No attendee was working on a guitar during the session.
A great presentation but not the same as we had a while back in Temecula which was a lot more of a work shop. Still well worth the time. |
