Location: Indiana | 46 yrs young today....this calls for a new guitar...lol. I broke a cardinal rule on this one. NEVER look at the for sale forum or ebay after a six pack of AmberBach! It's Mark in Boise's fault. I found his post 10 minutes before the auction ended. Ya, it was an impulse buy but I have wanted an early Folklore for a long time. The little devil was on one shoulder saying "c'mon, man...it's your birthday and no one else is going to buy you a damn thing!...$300 to your door for this is a steal!"...lol...the angel was on the other shoulder saying "But you don't have $300 right now!" . The devil said "shut up!...it never stopped him before and we can figure that out later." So I threw out a last minute bid and freaked when I won it at $260 plus shipping! I don't know if it ending very late hurt the bids or not but I was sure suprised. I wasn't sure how I was going to pay for it though. Then I looked at my 1116-4 and decided to sell it. It's a worthy trade for me. It is a clean guitar and I put several nice pics on the listing (many mess up here with poor or no pics) with a Buy it Now at $300. It sold within several hours of listing it! Now if both transactions go well and it is as described...all is good. happy birthday to me :D ;)

Having a birthday is always reason to obtain a great guitar.
Now that I think of it. Not having a birthday is a great reason to get a great guitar. :D
I saw the auction after it had already ended. You got a good deal. |

I'll have to remember that... stay up late on birthday, drink beer, buy guitar, get up next morning looking confused... "Honey? Did you buy me a guitar last night?"... |

Location: Indiana | How come I never find sweet deals like this? You will if you look long enough. In this case, I think the seller's pics (as mentioned in another thread) and his timing (it ended very late) may have hurt him. His gallery pic was a very dark pic of the case that you could hardly see...he didn't even use a guitar pic. In my 1116-4 listing my gallery pic was a very nice closeup of the amber spruce, rosette and curved fretboard end that really give these old Ovations a touch of class. I knew it would sell but I was surprised when it did it in a few hours at my Buy It Now price. I had seven pics ...they definitely help sell when done right.
My gallery pic...

and a note to everyone... PLEASE, stop using the term "xx years young"!!
We're all getting older, let's face it. We are old fu¢kers and if you ain't old yet, well, you will be (where your helmets, kids) and we should retake the badge of wisdom and knowledge that comes with our experience.... and be close minded , cause you think you've done it all, and had a harder time of it than these pissant kids today. We should yell at people cause we can't hear what they are saying and be proud that we get up twice a night to pee and then discover you can't, yet can't get it up twice in a row, cause we need the the rest any way...
Old Fu¢kers UNITED!!!
(I speak of course about those of you who are really old...over 45. Me? I aint there yet.... |

You deserved it ... enjoy your new guitar!
p.s.
- perhaps, you can begin your celebration strumming and singing to the tune of "Happy Birthday to Me" with your new guitar ... |

Location: Indiana | hey guys...thanks for all the birthday wishes...I really appreciate it. I'm off to get my free birthday beer at my fav watering hole and say hi to the pretty thing behind the bar. I may be an old f@cker as jeff said (thanks for the laugh) but I'm not ready to give up guitars and pretty girls just yet :) No ebay tonight though!

Location: Indiana | When you get older, you get wiser. If I have a few beers after work and crash around 1:00 or so...I go just before bed...and have exactly 7 hrs before I have to go again so bad it wakes me up. No need for hi-tech stuff like alarm clocks that piss me off ...no pun intended. ;) |

PS - Memo to Temp: I think the name confused you. You're feeling up a MAN. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Hey, my birthday is coming up on the 27th. Maybe I should be looking for another guitar. Nice Classical, just like mine. I think I would have sold something else instead though. That one is very nice also. |

Location: Indiana | Hi Vince...I hope you have a good bd too. I like my 1116 but have always wanted an early Folklore with a 1 7/8" nut. Plus it has electronics and my 1116 is acoustic only. There are more of these out there than decent Folklores I think. When my finances improve, I can pick one up if I feel another urge. I hope to have lots of birthdays left. :) |
