Location: Vernon CT | My friend Jill who "Jams" with my Buddy and I every Friday fell in love with the Tone of our Ovations and decide if she could find a "Vintage" Ovation she would buy one. So I spent a few weeks searching the web for the right "O" for her. About 2-3 weeks ago I found an 1157-7 10th Aniversary for sale up in Boston.
I kept my Eye on it until I felt Jill would go for it.
Yesterday Jill and I met this guy 1/2 way between Boston and the towns we live in. 43 mile each (86 to Boston). Anyway, the guitar was NOT in Excellent shape as Advertised, But, with a little elbow grease, a good "feeding" of moisture and fretboard/bridge oil and new set of Strings this guitar is a Solid 7 1/2 - 8!
There is a "dent" on the side on the Soundboard which I filled with some clear Nail Polish to protect it and the Bracing has caused a small "Fluted" or "Corrugated" effect between the Bridge and sound hole. There is also 1 small, barely noticable surface crack under the bridge. "Clearcoat only, not in the wood)
Other then that This guitar is a beauty. Bassy and LOUD!!!!! Incredible volume for an Acoustic.
2ifbyC was kind enough to offer to attach Pic's
for me as I allways have troubles doing that here.
Once posted, I would like to ask what you as an Ovation "lover" would of been willing to pay for this Guitar IF you were in the Market for it?
When I first saw it he wanted $500.00 with OHSC in Good to very good condition. I will post what Jill paid for it in a day or so. Thanks for looking!!!! |
