Was just in my local Guitar Center and they had a used 87 Collectors on the floor. It was black, labeled at #37 of 100 of the 87 Collectors series, and did not have the "1987" inlaid at the 12th fret, just the abalone block where it should have been. Interesting guitar. I would assume that the 37 of 100 was just for the black guitars, but I don't know.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Interesting. I didn't know they made black ones. Too bad you already have one. I just got one because you had one.

When I saw that book of songs for 3 chords, you got a disciple, probably not a groupie. I think that I lack the young and cute requirement.

Mr. Carter's Book says there have been 108 1987-5 Collector's built. But this is the first one I hear about.
So they are not only a fairy tale..

Saw it yesterday.
Polished it up and sat down with it. I really liked it. A tiny crack in the binding above three of the black side dots. The finish on the neck is black (not glossed-my favorite). They said it had a case. The tag price was just short of $1300 the sales guy said they could sell it for $1200  Maybe with cash-in-hand, they'd do better on the price.

If anyone is interested... If you're not local (I have no idea if GC ships), I could pick it up and ship it to you.
