Location: Midland, MI | John Parker Alexander born at 10:19, 16 JUN 06. Weight 6#7.7oz, length 17.5". Went to NICU due to pneumothorax (small). Off the CPAP after a couple of hours, breathing normally by 17:00. Nurses predicted he'd be eating sometime tomorrow, but he had other plans and started feeding at 21:00 tonight.
Mom is resting and well. I'm tired and mad at the anesthetists who declined my request for hits off the nitrogen bottle and the the nurses who refused to serve me the Vicodin they were handing out like candy. Bunch of squares.
Thanks to everyone who prayed for us, you have no idea how much it is appreciated. I think this calls for a cigar...and a couple sets of 'Twinkle, Twinkle.'
Peace out.

Location: Midland, MI | Thanks, everyone. I celebrated with a Fuente Sun Grown Gran Reserva Chateau and a Sam Adams Pale Ale. Or, three. Can you believe five boys in a row? Must be something in the water. ;) |

All the best! |

Location: Midland, MI | Thanks (again!) for the congrats.
Schroeder- I have a friend with four daughters. He said boys would be easier. With a boy, you have to worry about only one, errrrm, 'unit.' With a girl you have to worry about all of them! I feel for anyone with girls. The messages that popular media pumps at them day in and day out are horrid. IM!HO.
JeffD- 18? No thanks. I'm done. No more. I barely pulled off my part of the deal this time. I can't imagine pulling single-parent duty for a bedrest wife and *two* kids. ;)
Noel- 16yo (oldest) son has a girlfriend. I didn't realize how serious it was. He's going with her Tuesday to the hospital because she has an ulcer and is getting an upper GI and an ultrasound. I momentarily panicked when I heard 'ultrasound' and had to have 'the talk' again. He looked like he was going to vomit. To lighten things up, I shared with him some words of wisdom from a close friend, "No matter how hot you think a chick is, or how badly you think you're in love with her, somewhere there is some guy who is just sick of her sh!t." (What a misogynist!)
Calman- Nowhere near enough for a football team, I don't think. Basketball maybe? Dunno, I'm not a sports guy. I tend to think of them as my yard and home maintenance squad and 'senior care in training.' :D
On the topic of music, Jason Mraz is on ACL. I"ve never really cared for him, but then again I've never really listened to him much. Not bad. Tight band, though. |
