I posted about this a while ago and bikerfred suggested it was the batteries being bought may be flat.

Well the problem resurfaced again over the last couple of days.

I have tested my batteries with a multimeter and they are showing 9.5 v when they go in.

The thing is that the light glows very low; it seems to be some sort of short in the harness, then again when the Op Pro is left out w/o a battery it started working again.

I checked all the plugs and cleaned them, checked the amp jack socket etc

Any suggestions, or similar experiences.

Op Pro work fine otherwise

And finally how many hours running an amp should I expect from new battery, using the Tuner twice daily; temp changes requires a small re-tune

Oh yeah, I am only getting about a week out of a new battery this may be 10 hrs of amp work additional to tuning.

I can't remember the official figures (if I ever knew them) but you should be getting hundreds of hours I would have thought.

I just looked it up - 250 hours at idle, so with your usage I would expect 150 -200 hours.

Anybody got a more accurate idea/guess?

I play plugged in an average of ten hours per week, and use a battery every 45 days or so. HAve you tried the Duracell Pro-Cells?

I AM having that problem with the VIP even with the Pro-Cell. I'm trying a long ife energizer smoke detector battery now (good for ten years in a smoke detector) and that seems to be working better, but to soon to really tell much.

Al, do you know what Ovation says we should expect for battery life on the Op-Pro, Studio and VIP?

I am using Duracell alkaline

The battery drain is part of the problem the low glow from the led indicator, and then it starts to flash low but hte battery is okay.

Being an intermittent problem I will probably take to a tech to check the harness

Any similar experience

Sounds just like the Optima on the 99 Collector's, except I think the tuner turns on when it is hanging on the wall with the battery in. I have had it stay on for several minutes when I am playing it, instead of turning off after a minute like it's supposed to. I also suspect that the guitar dwarves turn it on at night. They seem to stay in tune for years, but lately have been sharp when I pick them up. I can understand going flat, but not sharp. Anyway, I gave up and take the battery out every time.

Gregory, good info...let us know what you find out.

Mark, Depending on the amount of humidity in my studio, my guitars will go flat or sharp.

Stephen, that's what I figured. The humidity went up quite a bit in the basement recently.

All my OP Pros work great. Batteries last a long time(4-5 months) and I play about 8 hours a week plugged in. I'd call Kim or John at the factory and see what they say.

Mark, send me your address...I got something I want to send ya.

If it offends you, throw it away and forget you ever got it (and especially from whom you got it!)
