Hey there! I need a little help from you who hold the knowledge of all things Ovation. I've got a chance to acquire an Ovation solid-body 12-string (Deacon?) like this.
I can't find a serial # anywhere on it. When were these made? Ballpark value (nearly mint condition)? Any caveats concerning this model I should be aware of? Is that enough questions?

Thanks in advance!

Tom

These are very worthless pieces of junk that the Ovation corporation tries to pretend never happened. Of no value whatsoever.

Just to get it off the market and keep anyone from being ripped off you should PM me a contact number for the vendor.

Serial number should be on the backplate. If there is no number then that might lead one to suspect that this was made up from parts and not an original factory assembly.

Doesn't mean it is not a great playing/sounding guitar but it might effect the worth.

IMHO, an all original Deacon 12 in excellent minty shape would be worth somewhere in the $1200 - $1800 range.

If it was parted together by someone but still basically all original parts, maybe $1000 - $1250.

These are fantastic sounding and playing 12 strings and in my opinion one of the best (if not the best) electric 12 string ever produced!

Thamks, Stephent28. I'll look a little more closely for the serial#. Now, all I have to do is convince the current owner that it really is in his best interests to relieve himself of the burden of owning that guitar.

...or something like that. :p

Where in Kansas, Tom? Lived in Colby and graduated from Kansas State. (I know. We were chased out of several states.)

Ditto. My Deacon was pieced together, so the serial # doesn't really mean anything, but I don't plan to ever part with it.

BTW, what if I had engraved on the plate "NOS 2001"? Is that a good or bad idea?
