Picked up my new CS 257 today. I've never had an "O" with gold tuners before. They're beautiful, but I suspect they're going to need a little TLC. Any suggestions on how and what to clean and polish them with?
Thanks! |

PS - Dry cloth works best. |

Location: cincinnati, ohio | Hmmm. I still wear my flannels with the sleeves intact, but rolled up, unbuttoned with a black pocket tee underneath. Gives you that Neil Young "Godfather of Grunge" look. Of course, unlike Neil, I am built somewhat like a Sumo wrestler, so the effect isn't as striking.
Anyway, I have a soft cotton washcloth I use to wipe down my strings at the end of the night. Think I'll get another one for the tuners. |

Getta bunch of 'em and repeatedly wash/dry them over the course of a weekend . . .
The more "beat up" they get, the better. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Check out the car places, but some of the soft cloths have polyester, which scratches. The best car restorer/detailer I know uses old towels that have been washed so much that they can be easily torn by hand. Old 100% cotton T shirts work well, too. I have lots of those. |

Location: cincinnati, ohio | Lotsa good sources here--thanks, guys. Mark, I've got some old cotton briefs that need to be retired. Same material as the shirts, more embarrassing, though. I'd have to make sure to cut 'em up into unrecognizable pieces. |

. . . I've always found that a nice, soft piece of (genuine) chamois works best . . . |
