The U681T is classified as a 30th anniversary reissue. Unlike the other 3 which are clearly based on prior models, what model was the U681T based on?
If it is a completely new design, then why the reissue designation? |

Anyway, the #47 reissue would cover that base.
I am trying to figure out what specific model or guitar the U681T was based on to classify it as a reissue! |

U681T Reissue
Guess this would not be the 1st time the website had inaccurate information |

I just called home to see if my wife or daughter were close to the Adamas brochure, but they weren't around, so I will have to check it when I get home. |

Dave I heard they locked Luthier444 in the "padded listening room" (where they final test the Hamers) with a FD-14 and a Adamas 1681 during some upper management meetings, and the U681TA (acoustic only) was all that they found in the rubble... well, that and the Mesa Boogie Amplifier Kim was trying to destroy by locking him in there in the first place. :D :p :D :p
(They're still trying to figure out how he got out). |

Model: U681T-5
This 12-fret to the body Adamas has all the makings of a world-class, high-end accpustic/electric guitar. Acoustically, the shorter scale length and deep non-cutaway bodygive this guitar a wide-open tone with exceptional volume and clarity No mention is made of this being a re-issue. It DOES state that there are four new American-made commemorative models for 2005
The only mention in the Adamas Catalog of any of them being "re-issue" is the 1187-247 Adamas #47 |

yes, excellent limited run.
and, compared with the Premier - about $1,000 less with the textured top (Premier has CVT and new pre-amp).
nothing against the Premier...but if you haven't played the Ute, try to find one, then hope one comes up for sale. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Oops. I hope I didn't jinx it. The brochure I have says the same thing as what Gregory S quoted above. The only other thing that might imply it's a reissue is the statement, "Take this opportunity to own a significant piece of guitar history." One of each would be nice, but I'll have to settle for one for awhile. Maybe I'll start an argument with my wife over which is better looking, blue or red and try to make her think she won when I agree to get both.
That will probably work as well as some of my closing arguments. |

So to address the topic:
What the catalog describes is the ute ownership process.
1) purcahse a Ute
2) receive same and note a few 'issues'
3) send it back for a little rework
4) at a future date, it will be "Reissued" to you
Now I gotta go... |

It's certainly not a reissue in the sense that it's a copy of a previously discontinued famous model. It's like nothing that ever came before it, other than the W681 protos we saw at the first OFC Tour in 2002 and that a few members here bought. But maybe by "reissue" Ovation means that this guitar (and the other 3 in the series) are a reissue of Ovations ability to build guitars based on how they SOUND, not just what color or type of electronics they think will sell.

| It is an indisputable historical fact that when the Thetans arrived on Earth they came looking for a good bass player. Due to a misunderstanding with the Neanderthals they came into contact with (who were deeply impressed by both interstellar travel and the incandescent GTO stripes on the side of the spaceship) the Thetans left without a bass player after the Neanderthals had the Thetan point man for breakfast. In the rush to leave Southern Germany the Thetans left behind a guitar that represented 100,000 years of the guitar maker's art together with a note that said "You Sickos Ate One Thetan too many."
Charlie found the guitar and the note - the reissue is the U681T. It is in fact the oldest reissue ever.
The neanderthals wandered down the dirt road of history and became Scientologists (but unlike Charlie they got tax-free status. Who's the no-brain now?)
If only it had a cutaway. |

| The danger is that you'll see Master Templeman in a whole new light. You think of him as a suave, sophisticated Cary Grant kind of guy, but catch him in his natural environment and YOU WILL BE SHOCKED.

There's a bit of unchartered territory here to be explored, that's for sure!

I hear they have started production on my guitar and are working on developing the bracing for the 12-fret cutaway contour. My understanding is that if they can develop the bracing/attachments by the time they are ready to put the bowl on, it will be a contour. If not, they will proceed with the mid bowl. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Gregory).
It may come out to be *just* a 12 fret cutaway mid bowl UTE.
I guess I can live with that. :D :D :D |

(And let's be careful with that acronym, all...) Now there's an idea for a T-Shirt. French Connection have had a hugely succesful, not to mention controversial fashion range branded over here as FCUK. We could get some T-shirts made with an OFCUK logo. Or not. |
