Has anyone done a comparison on the Adamas 1680 and the U681T?
I haven't played the Ute yet, but stumbled into a local music store today and picked up a new 1680 that was FABULOUS! I'm talking the best Ovation that I've ever played! It was only the $2500 price sticker that kept me from (as of yet) bringing it home.
In checking the stats online, the only difference that I can see between this and the Ute is the top construction and the preamp. Am I missing something, or is this the only real reason for the $1100 SRP difference? Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison?

Location: Munich, Germany | For what I know, one of the most significant differences should be the top suspension system of the 1680, the way they put the top to the bowl. Should be the same like Ovation did it with the early adamaii. |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | The feel of the oiled neck on the 1680 was awesome, and the tone was much brighter and fuller than any other Adamas I've played. I'm curious if the woven top as compared to the unidirectional makes that much difference.
On another note, while at the store I put the 1680 in the hands of a guy playing a $300 Ibanez...I think I made a convert! :D |
