The question - what ONE guitar currently in your collection would keep if you were force to get rid of ALL others. ONE only please, and WHY ??? |

Location: Upper Left USA | Currently I am working on a Mahogany bodied Viper with the goal or having a piezo pridge mixed with a Magnetic pickup. I spent a week strumming it with no pick up system installed, just pick it up and play. There is sufficient resonance between the PG and cavity. this week it has a dual blade HB.
If I only had one guitar (throw values or cost out the window) I would like to have this Acoustic/electric 22 fretter to play.

The only downside I can see is that it is not a cutaway, which is not an issue for me. Other than that, it is by far the one I'm most comfortable playing. With "gypsy steels" on it it is ridiculously easy to play and sounds amazing. With medium's on it and one more shim under the saddle, It's scary loud!! *if* somone were to invest in the 1680 with the VIP-5, or put one in the UTE, I think they'd have all the plugged in versatility they could want. |

Reason #1. It was a gift to me from my Father.
Reason #2. It is a Sunburst finish,(which I love).
Reason #3. It plays and sounds great!!!
Now if we could keep two, I would add my 1624 Country Artist. :D |

It'd be the Lowden 025. It does everything well. Bluegrass pickin', strumming, fingerstyle, alternate tuning. It sounds amazing and plays the same.
The FD-14 would be a very close 2nd. |

Location: Carle Place, NY | My Custom Legend that was re-furbished by the factory is the best guitar I've ever owned. If I had to choose one guitar that is the one. Why?
Is has the best neck-the original 5 piece truss rod with a slim V profile.
Great acoustic sound. Perhaps not as loud or full as my 1537, but great string-to-string balance at any position on the neck.
Great plugged-in. The OP-Pro is super. Love the on-board tuner too.
It's a one of a kind guitar. Perhaps the only 1619 that has been re-finished by the factory in New England Burst.
Lastly, it's a real beauty.

You know which one that is....costs $100, makes me sound like a serious professional despite my "rank" amateur status, looks great, will take a greyhound bus rolling over the top.
Even now...if picking between my 597 and 1537, I would likely keep the 597 as it is better suited for what I do, even though the 1537 is a superior instrument in tonal quality and beauty, the on board electronics, mid bowl and durability make the 597 win out. If I had a 2080, that would likely not still be the case. But who knows...haven't played one yet. |

What more could a man ask for??? Well, in a guitar that is... ;) |

Maybe not THE best sounding guitar I own, not THE prettiest, and CERTAINLY not the most versitile. But all things considered the whole package is just "right". If you know what I mean. Plus I feel kind of responsible for "discovering" the first one around here way back when all of you guys were asking WTF is an FD14. I bought the first one on a whim sight unseen and sound unheard just because it seemed to have the right ingredients. The rest is history. Dave |

If I could keep an elec 6,too, I would keep my 60 strat. It was the first good guitar I ever bought.
As far as Ovations (or any other acoustic), I would keep the "Book" Elite. But I would dearly miss the Anniversary. I could change my mind on this one.

I'm still waiting to get my hands on my custom 12, so that may change my opinion, but if I had to pick only one guitar, it would still be the 1869 that I lost last year. Maybe it's just the sentimental value, but it's still my favorite.
Out of what I have now, my top choice would be the 1881 A2 - it's striking, easy to play either smooth chords or more rock-style power chords, with the Optima preamp sounds fabulous amped, and has the advantage of being way more durable than my wood-tops.
Plus, like, it's an Adamas, duh!
PS. Robbie, I agree; the 1718 would be my second choice, and one I would be happy with.
PSS. Dave, did I get you started on this? |

It's the one guitar that does everything well for me -- strumming, finger picking, and flatpicking -- it may be designed for bluegrass, but it also plays well for other music genre. To date, it's also the most valuable in my personal collection, and the closest thing I have to a high-end guitar, since I don't own an elite, custom legend, or even an Adamas. If I hold on to it, over time, it just might be the only guitar that'll hold its resale value well.
If really forced to pick one, I'll really miss my one and only Ovation, so that'll be the next one I'll grab if I'm allowed to keep two ... |
