Location: Hicksville, NY | I just came back from the local GC this evening (by Glen Cove Rd. in Long Island) to purchase a set of strings, when I was given an offer that's just too good to pass... As per their sale offer, I purchased a box of 10 D'addario EXP sets for a hundred bucks, and they sold me a brand new Jasmine dread (S35) guitar for .01 cents -- that's right a penny!
Since I use that particular brand of strings anyway, I say why not?! They're offering the same price for either 80/20 or phosphor bronze strings, so in this case, I purchased a box of EXP16s, and walked out with the new guitar. To even make it better, I had a $30 store credit from a while back, so I decided to use that. In short, I got the box of strings and the guitar for $70 bucks (plus tax).
As for the guitar, it's made in Indonesia. It may not be an Ovation, but it's Takamine's product line, which is affiliated with Kaman. It has a nice satin finish and playability is great fresh out of the box.
Personally, I really don't need the guitar. As per my wife, she is hosting my sister's upcoming baby shower who will be expecting twins, and she decided to use the guitar for a prize raffle. So in the end, it's a win/win situation for my spouse and me (she'd kill me if I decide to keep it!).
The sale is still going on as of this writing ... I just thought I'd share it with anyone who's shopping for EXP strings -- and maybe -- looking for a guitar to use as a starter, beater, keeper, re-sell for extra money on the side, or as a present. | |
