Location: Townsville, Australia | I banged the face of my 1778T OFT into a round bench corner and have left a bit of a dent looks like a bit of track, small but can be seen in teh light. Can't feel it though
I remember working with wood and removing said dents by applying steam or a hot rag; would using an iron on low with a couple of layers of towel do the trick on this
Are there any risks?
Are the any other suggestions? |

Location: Townsville, Australia | So how about going in through the port with a hot well wrung cloth?
My thinking is that it won't work as it is on the wrong side of the wood.
But is it a risk to try this? |

Hey Look at Ol' Willie.
I don't think going from the inside will help.
Everybody hates geting a ding in their guitar, especially the first one. Ouch.
I know I'm not much help. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I've used that trick on furniture AND guitars with some success. But if theres a finish on the guitar, you will not like the result. It will give you a cloudy-white haze under the finish. It DOES work great if you're refinishing and have all the finish off. I just did a project on an old cedar-top classical that was bound for the trash heap, and it came out very well, considering the 1 inch hole in the side and two in-grain splits in the top. It was quite an experience, but it plays like a charm now and was well worth the effort. |

Location: Townsville, Australia | Thanks guys, decided agin the rear entry approach and did the towel thing; it does work, not completely, but the wood did swell back quite a lot, and didn't effect the finish.
Don't have an iron so that will be it, and yes it's character, texture and downright clumsy; all valuable lessons |

Location: CT | I remember the first ding I put in my Custom Legend. It was like 2 weeks old and I just about flipped. To this day it's the only ding on it, and I remember that day 23 years ago like it was yesterday. After a while all these guitar dings act like a living diary of dumb stuff we were doing when we were playing our guitars. |
