Tonight I watched the movie " Just Friends " with Ryan Reynolds, Amy Smart, and Anna Feris and it was full of Ovation guitars....even a double neck!

Anyway...good movie and nice to see all the Ovations.

Made me wonder about other movies I had seen that had Ovations in starring roles and the only other one that came instantly to mind was " Saving Silverman ".

Anybody think of any others??

I was kind of surprised to see Michael McKean using one in "A Mighty Wind". I would have expected the character to have an early '60s wood box, but it was probably a personal instrument with which McKean was comfortable.

Yes, that sunburst legend in "Mighty Wind" was a surprise, given that they we're doing the old folkie stuff. But you know its just a perception, that you use a a big dreadnought, for that stuff, when a round back works.

Trivia question: Who can name the very first feature-length movie to have Ovation guitar in it?

Bonus question: What model was fetured in this movie?

You are correct, sir!

That was way too easy for the likes of you, Paul. I probably should have phrased the question, "Who, besides Moody, can name the very first movie to feature an Ovation." :D

Did anyone notice the the little aussie rock star on the LOST series who found his lost guitar (Ovation) up in a tree, after it survived the plane crash. I saw it on a couple of the episodes but didn't see it long enough to tell what kind it was. I kinda' think it was a Legend LX. Anyway ... it supposedly helped him get off his crack addiction. What a great Ovation commercial there.

On another topic, I picked up a copy the other day of Shania Twain's "Beginnings" CD, and on the back cover, she's holding none other than a unusual-looking shallow Balladeer or Legend, with what appears to be a "marbled" reddish top (maybe bubinga?). Cool looking guitar. Singer's not bad either...

I think he was supposed to be british... maybe he went to the Dick Van Dyke/lovable chimney sweep school of accents, based in Sydney! (Don't get me wrong, my skill with accents isn't half as good as either of those boys.

Back OT - I believe there's a nive guitar in Jerry Maguire. "Show me the..." guitar...

There's a multi sound-hole Ovation of some kind in an upcoming movie called "Short Bus". DO NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! It's going to be at least N.C.-17, and more probably X. It's even more graphic than "Ken Park" (don't go see that either). Sometimes post prod. makes me watch some harsh stuff. :(
