Location: Spring Hill, FL | I have 2 Ovations. I intend to keep one. But a friend of mine had a Legend model he'd bought in '78. It had an accident. (He suspects his 120 lb black lab knocked it over and fell on it while he was out.) It's basically firewood at this point. My extra Ovation is a Legend Model 1667 in excellent condition. I've offered to sell it to him but don't know what to ask. Any suggestions? |

Location: Carle Place, NY | A 1667 in excellent shape with an Ovation case is worth about $350-$450 on the eBay market. My local luthier has a really mint sunburst 1617 (same model w/o the cutaway) that he's asking $700 for, but it's been sitting in his shop for over 6 months. The only negative about the guitar is the old stacked knob FET pre-amp. I'd ask for $500 as a friendly price. |

Location: CT | Don't under estimate THE OLD stacked FET pre-amps. I have 2 of them, they're simple and they sound great. The OP-Pro on my LX has more bells and whistles, but it eats up batteries, and nobody plugs directly into a power amp anyway. All of the amps, consoles and P.A. systems the signal goes thru before it gets to the speakers have more than enough processing power to even the field. $700.00 is a little steep for a 1617, but have you priced the Glen Campbel re-issues that ALSO have the stacked FET pre-amp? |
