Can anyone tell me what the value of this guitar is? It's in excellent condition with only tiny slight blemishes/dings on the flat top. I used this guitar early in my career when I worked as a music therapist. I got tired of carrying it around in that hard case so I bought a cheap yamaha classical guitar. It hasn't been used since 1987/1988. My husband is a guitar lover so he doesn't want to sell it, but we need the cash. I wish I could convince him to sell his Les Paul, too!

I just sold my '82 Anniversary, which was in good condition with OHSC for $275.

Guess I have to watch eBay more

This is a great guitar, "A" brace, AAA spruce. Bought a nice one a couple of years ago for $400 but another OFC'er wanted it. Worth a lot more but most potential buyers have never played one.

A near-new sold in a guitar store here for $750 but the buyer had the opportunity to play it.

Damage to the top, even minor, can affect the price. Whether here or on eBay, need to be specific as to what problems there are (or aren't). Also, whether OHSC and what condition the case is.

If I had an Anniversary O in "excellent" condition, I wouldn't sell it for less than $450. It is a great guitar.

EBay prices vary wildly. However, if the seller knows how to properly describe the guitar and posts good photos, this Anniversary model should fetch at least $450.

Jane, I think your husband is right. Keep it.

Jane,
I also have an 82' Anniversary. I am the original owner. It would absolutely kill me if I ever had to sell it. Keep it if you can.

I was watching those for awhile, until I blew the "budget" on a couple other items. Ebay had a couple in good condition that went for under $400. I would think that would be a reasonable expectation if you decide to sell it and that may help make up your mind to keep it. It seems like there were a ton of them made.

Thank you all for your information and advice. I'll probably keep it since it will only fetch $500 tops. It's not worth selling for that amount. I think I bought it for about $575.

Is it just me, or does the market value for used Ovations in general seem to be at an all-time low right now (that is if eBay is any sort of barometer)?

Mark's Rule: The market value of any item peaks as soon as I buy it.

Timing is very important for selling a guitar on eBay. August is a bad time. I think that April, May, October and November are generally the best times to sell.

Sold all of my equipment in early '80s because I needed the money. Regretted it for 20 years!
