This one has only the smallest of finish issues. The Maple neck is almost flawless. Making a PG for it this week.
Maybe lessons are next! |

Per our conversation I was enticed by the undamaged case, nearly perfect finish, undamaged neck amd two piece body.
I could have/should have gotten off my butt and driven 80 miles to Monroe to look it over and buy it for $375 but I got lazy... ...and lucky. The Seller is a business Owner and had a UPS account. |

Where do you get the Ovation labels from for you PGs? As I said before, I'm refinishing the Preacher and I was wondering about that. |

Very similar to mine in the original state, but the finish is somewhat lighter in color than my sunburst, is the body maple by any chance?
Did you polish the bridge, mine is not as bright in it's original state.
You do such a good job that I am tempted to will you mine and hope you outlive me to turn it in to an art work. Mine is almost as good as that one except for the cracks in the pickgaurd around the plug, that, of course would be gone with your artful woodwork.

Did you have the fretboard replaced?? I have never seen one with anything other than a maple neck??
Beautiful guitar.
Do we have the beginnings of a Viper fan club here??

Location: Chehalis, Washington | No replacement, just stock ebony. Woody did a new walnut PG & TRC, plus new knobs and a blender rather than the standard 3-way. The whole thing is maple other than that.
If we're starting a Viper club, count me in! |

Location: Upper Left USA | While most of the Vipers have the maple FBs there are a bunch of later models with Ebony boards. When I took my photos it was a light spot on a rainy (about time) day in the NW. The diffused light from the cloud cover is great for photography.
I cleaned the bridge but didn't polish.
I believe my body is a two piece maple. It could be some well behaved Ash though. |

If I had to describe my body, "well-behaved Ash" would not describe it...

They had a few maple body Vipers with natural finish, my local vintage music store had one that he sold. My guess is that your's is not maple, they were really heavy.

Location: Upper Left USA | Did you snag the Breadwinner pups on ebay? This is the Bridge that went with em. If I hadn't been spending so frivolously I would have grabbed those too! Missed a Deacon case for $66.
Plan it and we shall build it! |

Location: Marlton, NJ | Mike - yep, those are the ones. I also got the viper neck... I wanted to try repairing that one before I tackled mine.
At this point I have everything I need but the PG. I'll be stripping the body and neck today, repairing whatever needs to be repaired in the wood and then hopefully refinishing it over the weekend. The pups should arrive this weekend or early next week. |

Location: Midland, MI | That's a nice looking guitar, Woody, as always. All it's going to take is for you to get one of your 'refurbs' in to the hands of some up-and-coming guitarist. Once whoever it is hits big, the market for your work and Vipers in general will take off. Nice job. |

It's hard enough to find artists using these 30 year old Ovations already. |
