Location: Budd Lake, NJ | Now I've gone and done it--I just love this color as it appears in the color choices offered on the mothership's website. Do any of you own one with this finish? Are there any pictures here in the gallery of one? Is the picture a good representation of the color? Thanks for the input--I'm really curious (and half-hoping that it's way off and I won't like the way it looks after all.....no guitars 'til the roof is on--but I can just look... ;) )

Look in my gallery under "gone, but not forgotten". The 1985 Collector's 6 and 12-strings were the only guitars I know of that were made in Autumn Burst. They come up for sale on eBay every now and then. They are shallow-bowl guitars.
AMAZINGLY, this one that I sold last October, was never paid for and showed up at my doorstep a few weeks ago in need of a trip to the Mothership. If you want, I'll send it in and have it completely restored if you want to adopt it. |

And an extra in there for good measure...
:D
I'm pretty sure it's autumn burst... close to New England Burst, but in real life it's much more browner. |

| Ovation also made a Longneck in the 'tobacco-burst' finish...I remember seeing one on ebay...I think it was a custom-order color..I haven't seen one since then.. |

Location: New Hampsha | If the Autumn burst is the same or close to the New England burst I can tell you that pictures definitely do not do this finish justice. These are simply stunning, beautiful guitars. If you like the pics you will love what comes out of the box! |

With Al's announcement on the 12 fret, contrasted with my bank account, I am in serious koa supression mode. |

Location: Utah | Karen, our local Guitar Center has a Standard Elite 6778 LX in the NEB which I've played a couple of times. It is an ugly, ugly finish. You'd hate it. The sound is pretty horrible, too. Worse than an $80 Yamaha.
(Hope this helps you get over the GAS attack) |

Location: Santa Cruz, CA | I'm pretty sure that the pics are the New England Burst -- if you look at the epaulets they are brown wood on the inside one (closest to the strings) -- the Autumn Burst has white there...(at least on last year's color chart)
check them out yourself on the Ovation site:

The picture on the color chart for Autumn Burst matches up to the S778.
I had no idea they resurrected that color.
Karen, Is AB the color you're referring to?
.... ..........
S778 (Autumn Burst)........ 6778LX (New England Burst)

Liar. You calling me a liar? Well, just to prove you wrong, I'll be back at the GC today to see just how awful that guitar is! I'll play it, plus the 1778T and the 6756LX 12 string.
Actually, I've been ogling that 6778 for a while now, and if I didn't have a thing going for the Adamas W597 it would be on my Christmas list. But, once we paid the kids' tuition, we had to, according to the kids, get season ski passes for them.
Why is it that the more I work, the less I have? |

Location: Budd Lake, NJ | Thank you, one and all, for your insights into this elusive finish. I have played one that has the New England Burst finish, and although it really is beautiful, it's just not me. If anyone should happen to spot an O in this phantom color out there on the 'net, could you let me know? I would appreciate it.
