Okay, it looks like Musician's Friend has a #47 RI coming in on October 3rd. Could this be right, and not a screw-up? They've got it listed at $3499 - not a bad price it would seem. Anyone looking for one, this might be a good option.

Food for thought (or GAS :D ).

What I'd like to know is how MF alrady has 4 reviews on it already and how any of the reviewers could have given it anything but a 10 ... BOZOS!

I don't think there are any reviews yet. That's MF rating it. I think.....

Most of the acoustic guitars MF sells are not in the $3500. range. I'm sure their thought process is something like "It's plastic, therefor it should be cheaper than a wooden guitar."

It used to bother me that "Ovations don't get the respect they deserve". Now I frankly don't give a damn. They only person an Ovation guitar has to satisfy is ME. And they usually do that very nicely.

Real simple guys...since we certainly know more than the bozos do.

I just went and did a straight 10 across review. About a dozen OFC members doing the same and it will even out the idiot that ranked it 1's and 2's.

I got brow-beaten in another thread for suggesting 5K was too much for this guitar. 3500 is a little more realistic. Musicians Friend is making a profit on these, so whoever is selling them for 5K is making a profit plus 1500 bucks. I am now awaiting my second beating.

OK, try this. Forget about actual dollars, like 3000, 4000, etc. Just compare the sound and build quality of this instrument to what you can buy from other makers like Martin, Collings, Lowden, etc. I would venture to say that you would have to spend equal or more on those other brands to match what you get with the 47RI. Is it a bargin at $4000? Well, if you have to spend $5k to get something "better" from another builder, then yes it's a bargin.

Hey buddy, I'll have you know that I'M the one who wears the pants around my house (except of course when I'm in a dress-up mood). TODAY will be a banner day. THREE guitars arriving at my work address. I checked my wifes schedule and she's working until 3pm today. So I can sneak home at lunch time and bring them in undetected. I'll take the boxes and dispose of that evidence in the dumpster behind the 7-11. Like I said, I'M IN CHARGE. Dave

As long as the wife understands that I'm not going to spend more on diamonds than I did on the guitar(s), everything is good...

The most accurate Father's Day card from my wife: "Happy Father's Day to the man who wears the pants in the family." Then on the inside: "From the woman who tells him which ones to wear."
Dave hides most of his guitars in his humidity controlled closet. Plus he has so many, most people couldn't keep track. I tried to hid mine in the basement, but my wife decided to move all her exercise stuff down there so she sees them every day. 3 guitars in one day is really pushing it. I've done 2 and once did a guitar and amp, but I don't have the balls to do 3 and wouldn't have any if I did. Congrats, Dave.

You need to put it in perspective. 1 guitar is an Academy, not sure if that even qualifies as a "guitar". OK, the other 2 are real (nice) ones. But as soon as I can unpack them, one box gets used for another (really) nice one that I sold and needs to be shipped. So on balance it's not SO bad, but yes walking into the house with three guitar boxes does open the door for plenty of questions. Dave

. . . like, "Who's in that one?"

I'm on to you Tuppy, guitar purchases are just a front. He's acutally a "Mule" smuggling immigrants into the country in guitar boxes...

If you can walk into your house with 3 guitar boxes, you have longer arms than I thought. I'm betting you brought them in one at a time after you sent your wife to the mall.

One got re-routed, arrives tomorrow. I've been playing with that damn Academy all night. What a cool freaking instrument that is. The top even has this raised edge binding on it, EXACTLY like a real tupperware container. You would be SHOCKED to hear how good this thing sounds for a slab of plastic. Dave

I see the reviews have climbed to a respectable rating for this guitar.
