She also used an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal.

She ended it differently when I saw her, it's pretty funny cause when she got to the end, she just lifted up her hands, as if to say, hey, mom look no hands! The audience laughed and loved it. This was a lot more mysterious. Still good, just different. |

Location: Tennessee | Great song ... it appeals to my surf music roots. Nice to see Kaki stretching out musically and tonally as well. She keeps getting better and better . There'll be lots more good stuff in the future.
Is there any way to get a digital audio version of this tune?
Thanks for the post Dave. Stay well! |

I think the roland space echo 555 is the rolls royce of tape echos. I love the tape delay and it just works very well. I own other digital delays such as the oberheim (gibson) echoplex, original tape echoplexes. the guild copy cat and have owned binson echorec klempt analog tape echos along with boss, ibanez, digitech, etc digital delays.
there is just something about tape that has the warmth and vibe that I look for. digital is fine especially in performance situations.
did I answer your question? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | OH THAT'S GREAT! And I'm not even going ask why you were searching Indie-Crush. Here's the copy ...
"Kaki King, musician. The remarkable Ms. King would already be on indie-crush lists everywhere if she'd only sing about gazelles on crystal hills or something, but unfortunately for crushless indie dudes all she does is shred the f*ck out of her sweet custom Adamas. Her fingerstyle technique turns my knees to jelly, and her near-invisibility on the indie radar seals the deal. She looks impossibly good in a plain red T-shirt. I am a little afraid of her. What use, after all, is an indie crush, if it isn't rooted in wide-eyed, cold-sweating fear? "
DEAD GOD ... oops, I mean DEAR AL, PLEASE GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO RESIST POSTING WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW I WANT TO POST ...

I noticed in your signature that now your daughter is giving you Ovation guitars. "Adamas Prototype Cutaway Classical".... what the story on this one? Any pics? |

Location: atlanta | Paul, technically the guitars are here under a "bailment" from her (meaning I have legal possession of them but ownership remains hers). She is frequently in Atlanta and likes to keep a few guitars here, and the prototype classical is one of them. I think it's been here about six months.
I plan to take both guitars to the S.E. get-together being planned by Phil, and we'll get some pix then.
Best--

while Al is absolutely correct about the Space Echos for vintage gear (and I have owned my share although not all the brand varieties of Al), my current favorite is the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo.
FULTONE TTE
It is current production, no obsolete parts, easy to use tape container, multiple speeds easily controllable.....basically a fantastic unit without any of the headaches of vintage gear.
Also sounds fabulous on vocals! |

Could you take some pictures, and post 'em ... I'd be interested in seeing whether her gear has evolved.
Frankly, I loved the way she sounded when I saw her ... the compression was just right, the digiverb worked good, the wah added a nice touch and the looper was clear as a bell. |

I'll be picking up Kaki's recordings and looking forward to her doing another show in DC. Tell her to play the State in Falls Church, VA--it's a fantastic room. |

Yep, i had to sit through a Paul Simon concert last Saturday -- the day Kaki was here in town. SWMBO'd drew the line -- her boss was going to the concert and she just had to put in a showing. With me in tow. No way out of it, and no room for negotiation.
What are you going to do?

If you like Paul's music it was a great show. I'm just not a fan of his stuff since he and Art split. Anyway, the crowd really did get their money's worth; one two hour set without break, crowd requests, six song encore, and a decent front act (which i actually liked more).
