Explains why your Adamas 12 ended up with me (he he). Seriously that double neck is really beautiful. Good going.

Location: Warren,Pa. | Question: is this based strictly on pre-LX features? I see they must be K-Bar necks. What kind of bracing is in there? GS bowl? Is it mid or deep?
Very beautiful.
One more question...to the nearest $10,000, how much?

Location: Brentwood,TN | Thanks guys! It is very fun to play, but also very top heavy. I played a show with it on Friday night and it wore me out! Well worth the pain though! |

Question...electric doublenecks typically have the 12-string on top...yet both Chris and Tim have the 12-string on the bottom. Is this an acoustic thing or just an Ovation thing? |

He argued that it makes sense not to have to reach over the neck less played. Since most playing is on the 6 string for lead work, it should be on top for ease of reach.
I think Gibson lead the way to the 12 on top with the old SG models in the 60's and that sort of became the norm.
My 2 cents

Location: Brentwood,TN | I agree with Tim. I could have had the 12 on top but I went with it on the bottom. Much easier for me to strum the 12 hanging low than up closer to my chest. K-bar necks. It has a triple A spruce top. I was fortunate enough to help pick it out myself with Willy (the guy who pretty much builds the whole thing from scratch) when I flew up there in May. I also sent a camera up there at the beginning of production for Mark to snap pictures of the guitar at various stages and I will post them also in my gallery. The bracing is very intricut and yest the huge bowl does produce a big sound! Maybe I can bring it up next year for the tour! Ths case is a monster though! Total weight with the guitar in is is 61 pounds! Thanks guys! |

Location: Rocky River, Ohio | Yeah, Our guitar center used to be a Fretter Appliance store. There is quite a large lobby area. There are 2 pairs of front doors. After entering, there are 2 showcases, one to the left and one to the right. The doubleneck is on the right. There are many cool and rare pieces in there, most of them signed. I believe the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (which is about 9 miles down the road) let's them borrow the stuff. But, I could be wrong. I think that double neck has been there for years. They used to have couches in the lobby area, for what reason I have no idea, although I think i remember girls sitting on them waiting for their boyfriends to finish their shopping. They've since been removed. Once in the lobby, there is the single entrance door on the right and the exit door on the left.
I told Tim I would take a picture of the doubleneck next time I'm in there. I think Sambora signed it in Silver paint pen on the top. I'm curious now if he signed it to Guitar Center, or the Rock Hall..
I might go there this weekend to clarify.

Cleveland, OH Guitar Center, D868-XX (shallowbowl) The serial number indicates made in 1991, this make's it two year older than mine.
It's an FRG! Notice that this has gold tuners and the 80's style Elite red pinstriping versus the abalone that the later Elite models had.
