What are your favorite tab sites-- or do you have any? I like www.chordie.com for a couple of reasons. It's pretty extensive and...IT HAS A TRANSPOSER!! That's right-- it'll transpose the song + or - 5 semitones. I do a good deal of transposing for lead sheets of band songs (we have a keyboard player, and it seems like all her songs are either in flats or sharps--drives a guitarist crazy!). That saves me a lot of work.

Now, the down side-- most internet tab sites are NOT very accurate. The really good ones are maybe 85% to 90% accurate (chordie's around 88%). I look at tab sites as starting points. I'm experienced enough after 37 years to spot most of the mistakes and correct them. Plus if I have a music book for the song, I can check that to straighten things out. For a gigging musician, tab sites are a boon, great places to get cheap cheat sheets. I have a monster 4" binder with about 200 songs in plastic looseleaf sleeves, arranged alphabetically. I call it my "Band Aid" file. Between that and what I know by heart, I can do 350 to 400 songs. Comes in handy. I just pull out the songs I need and put 'em back when I'm finished.

By the way, the best place to get authentic tabs is still a good tab book, which unfortunately will set you back $20 to $25. Guitar World Acoustic magazine has great tabs, and they have an "EZ Guitar" section which is essentially lead sheets.

So...anybody out there have any undiscovered gold mine tab sites they want to share?

I use www.wholenote.com. It has lessons(sorta) and a groove thing. It's fun to screw wround with. They're having tab lawyer issues so that part of the site is down.

I like the looks of this chordie. I bookmarked it, plan to use it later.

I second the chordie site. I also like
http://www.iol.ie/~murphypj/
also known as PJ's site, it's amazing to know (unless there are things I don't know) when all the chords, lyrics and tabs from this site are interpretations of one man.

This is a good site. There are some good lessons on there. They had a BIG tab site at one time, which they lost, but they recently brought it back on line. There's another site called www.guitarnoise.com which has some really detailed lessons, especially on some Neil Young tunes (David Hodge, their main teacher, who also writes for Acoustic Guitar magazine, is a big Neil freak). I wrote an article about partial capo techniques which is on this site. The song lessons are really detailed and have mp3's to go with them.

There is a site that I have on the CT computer and I don't in Fla. It's one that shows you chords in whatever tuning you want. You say it's open D and then ask for the B or C or Am or whatever and it shows it to you.
Anybody know this site? I'd like to find it again.

Nevermind, I found it, www.guitarnotes.com/chordgen/

I'm not sure I'd call this my favorite but I use it a lot.

The thing I like about it is the transposer. Great if you play with a keyboardist.

Sometimes, if you go hunting, you can find very good sites that don't show up on a general search. If you like Gordon Lightfoot, check out http://www.lightfoot.ca/lyrics.htm which is a Canadian website. There you can find very accurate chord/lyric sheets for EVERY Lightfoot song ever written. There are some on there I've never heard of, and I'm a big Lightfoot fan!

If you like Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel, look at Brad's Paul Simon Guitar tablature page at http://www.bradpriddy.com/paul_simon/ for very detailed, note-for-note tabs of some of Paul's best-known songs. Great site.

Why bug me about a Jumbo? I don't work there.
Now if I had to guess you are talking about a new bowl shape, that's reasonably big tooling dollars. In a corporate suit mentality, what do you think?????

Hey Rick,
I use www.e-chords.com
They also have a transposing system(in 1/2 steps) up or down. I use it often when I can't quite sing a song in a certain key and I hate capos. They also have a section where they show an interpretation of some songs on the guitar which is sometimes ideal if you get stuck on the tab. Cheers, Ed

Mmm...I guess that when the Company can invest in something like twin-necked ( double necked )
guitars,a rather "small " market ! then I would say , that the venture into the JUMBO market would be rather Hugely Profitable , made " true Ovation style ", it would be the most comfortable "J" to play . :)

B T W Thanx for all the Cool Music Sites Everyone

Works for me. But be forewarned, you need a good pop-up blocker. This place has alot of trash attached. I'm lucky, comcast has one. These folks have alot of good stuff tho'....
