Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Hi, it's the new guy again. Upon further inspection of my Balladeer 4861 (mik) it reads Ovation USA in raised letters inside my bowl. I already know by the model # and serial # that my geetar was made in Korea. But does this mean that the bowl was made in the US of A? Or is it just what they put there cuz they felt like it? Just kinda curious... |

Location: Warren,Pa. | Bowls are made for Ovation at a factory in Ashtabula, Ohio. I don't know how old your guitar is but no matter; that's where the bowl comes from.
In reading the copy for non-USA Ovations on their site I've noticed they're touting a "Made in the USA" bowl on foreign-made Ovations...as if to dilute the fact that it's an overseas product. ALL the Ovation bowls have ALWAYS been made here; it just wasn't moulded into the bowl before. John <>{ |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Thankz folks. I saw an "investigative report" on TV... About Chinese laborers who get scammed by a promise of work in America. They end-up in Sweat-shops in Saipan (I think) which is kinda owned by the US. There are no real labor laws there, but the products can legally say "Made in USA". Creepy, huh?
Regardless, I like my guitar!
Anyway, thanks for the info... |
