Location: Omaha, Nebraska | I just added a 2006 Collector's KOA to my family of Ovations. I love the instrument and the VIP5 electronics are incredible plugged in. I'm a bit frustrated though that you can't use the tuner unless it's plugged in. Does anyone know if just create a "jumper" by wiring across the contact on a 1/4 inch plug or would it need a capacitor or resistor of some kind....

Try velcro'ing a dummy plug to your strap. Put it in when you want to tune up. Do remove it though so as not to run the battery down. |

Seriously, the dummy plug is a real pain. I have burned through two new 9v's now after putting the plug in to tune before playing acoustically then forgetting it there overnight. I try not to tune now unless I am plugging in.
Major mess up on that "feature". I think I will velcro it to my pick then I will always go looking for the pick to play.... |

Location: Omaha, Nebraska | Thanks to everyone for the remarks... sounds like someone's tried the dummy plug.... Yep T.R. is "The Real". It's the only nickname I ever had thanks to Air Force buddies and stemmed from C.W. McCall and the Convoy craze in the 70s.
I really do like this '06. I haven't found too many to compare to my N768s (it took me years to find the second one), but this thing has incredible resonance. It's taking a slight adjustment to give up the 5-piece neck but they did put a slight "v" shape in this that feels familiar. |

Location: Omaha, Nebraska | Yep. I got the one at Dietze. I told Dan and Tim I was tired coming in and thinking about it(I figured they were tired of it hanging there) and they did make a smokin' deal for me. I immediately went to custom light strings .11 - .52 and it plays even better. It didn't lose much tone at all and really doesn't matter plugged in. I'm very pleased with it.
